I'm a good guy to have a beer with. I don't translate well online.

Ha, my wife had the same sentiment regarding sitting in the middle of Boston outside enjoying a beer. Yes that certainly has some appeal and having worked in that area years ago I can see why you'd stop there after work regardless of line. Often times I think very logically and discount how a "normal non engineer" thinks . I look at someplace like Five Horses Tavern where I can get 3 or 4 Trillium beers as well as a few other great beers and would head there instead. The normal person looks at the beer garden and says where else can you get 8-9 Trillium beers on Tap in such a fantastic location...

Regardless we had a great time even though we were on the older side of the spectrum. The beer line was super quick and even the line to get in seemed to move very quickly.

Ironically I am an engineer...although at times I definitely do not think like one.

Coincidentally, more often than not I also find myself at Five Horses Tavern (Davis). Trillium beer garden is a treat and a nice change of pace.

I also like the variety at a bar such as Five Horse, along with being able to drink Trillium. Trillium is nice, but the first time I went I had two beers, and the second I had one and then it started raining so we just headed back (ended up at Five Horse eventually!).

You can only drink so many 7 - 8% beers for so long...

Too funny. I'm sure it varies at different times but I think that single line is often counterproductive because everyone is lined up in front of the center most bartender when the bartenders are typically fanned out across the length of the bar. Perhaps a more helpful sign would be "Please form 3 or 4 parallel lines"

I think the single line phenomenon is largely because the entrance is kind of perfectly centered along the bar (and very close) so people go straight to the bar and then, as you say, nobody else wants to feel like they're "cutting" so everything just sort of backs up towards the entrance. If the entrance was over where the bathrooms are I think you'd get a more normal free for all along the entire length of the bar. Whether that's actually preferable to an orderly line is another question...

I went today for the throwback beers, but left with nothing because they only sold them in 4 packs. I really hope that changes soon.

Definitely the throwback I miss the most. I was filling growlers of Rose every other week it felt like back at the old warehouse spot.

Wish I could have made it over today for a 4-pack.

Looks like you still have the opportunity to get the cans, they still show available.

The event on Sunday was really fun. I thought they did a great job overall and opening for can sales only early probably made it run smoother. Sounds like it was pretty busy early on but by the time we got there at around 2:30 it was packed but no line to get in. The beer lines weren't too bad either.

swung by last night and grabbed a 4pk of each of the throwbacks. loving the classic labels. seemed like they still had a decent amount of the throwbacks left.

Could never have a beer with you. I picture you as Adam DeMamp and do not want to ruin that.

Do you not buy/drink cans? Almost all I buy is in cans.

I think he may have meant buying singles as opposed to four packs, so he didn't have to buy each beer in a 4 pack.

Does anyone know whether they will remake Annie Oatley? One of my surprise favorites this summer.

Thanks! Stopped in yesterday and was sipping a Rose last night. Enjoyed it a lot, and the accompanying nostalgia just as much. I do feel like the batches from the old brewery benefitted from that mild souring that hit a lot of old school NS for good or ill.

OK, guess that makes sense? Who buys just 1 beer? I guess it's a thing? 1 just leaves me wanting more usually.

I do. Anywhere it's allowed. I'd rather a mixed 4/6 pack of my choice most of the time unless I am really loving or in the mood for something specific. The only time I buy full four packs at trillium is when a Fort Point is there. Get's me weird looks, espeicially at special releases, but I don't mind.

I also don't think he meant buying a single beer, or likely not just 1 of each beer. Maybe a few mix four packs? Like Trillium allows?

Otherwise to try all six you'd have to buy a case of 16 oz. cans.

Not only may he not want a case, but Nightshift's beers are ~$14 per four pack, which is an $84 case someone may not want to drop all at once.
