    It's not just you...lol.

We get their stuff in our distro and it's unfortunately not very good. The nose is solid but the taste.....not so much.

PERMANENT is my favorite hoppy from FFF. It's is dangerously good. It has rendered me incoherent on more than one occasion. Damn the thought is making me thirsty....

What's up BA? Wasn't sure I was going to have a new beer for today, but picked this one up at the local Hop,on Friday. I've been enjoying several brews from Fairhope lately, and a BA quad certainly caught my attention.

Notes below. Strictly judged as a BA quad, it's a little off in color, body, and ABV.

Otherwise, some nice aroma and flavor combinations make for a very enjoyable beer.

Poured from 22 oz bomber with no visible bottle date.

A: Very clear crimson red with one finger head. Nice rentention and leaving moderate to heavy lacing. Color is a little lighter than expected.

S: Sweet bourbon, dates, raisins, and caramel. Some faint spices that I can't quite place.

T: Nice blend of bourbon and dark fruits. Subtle caramel sweetness and hints of vanilla.

M: Medium body and a touch thinner than I was expecting. Average carbonation.

O: Very tasty brew. Color, body, and ABV are all on the low side for a BA quad. A touch pricy but otherwise very enjoyable.

Good afternoon, NBS crew! I've been away from the thread for a few weeks due to chronic drunkenness (or more specifically, some wicked hangovers post-Saturday night), but back today to contribute. A new Tree House tick for me! Always an exciting moment.

    Tree House - Bright DIPA
    Canned 7/13/17 (24 days old)

    L - 4.25 | S - 4.5 | T - 4.25 | F - 4 | O - 4.25
    4.17 total (-5.2% rdev)

Received in a trade from @Csparks33 . Thanks Chris!

Poured into a Civil Society "IPA Glass" (still not sure what this glass is actually called @Lingenbrau)

L - Lovely golden body with a 2-finger eggshell head. Slow to recede, and leaves a ton of lacing on the glass.

S - grapefruit for days. I also get some other citrus (orange/lemon).

T - whoa grapefruit! They aren't messing around with the citrus on this one. Quite a bit of bitterness on the back end...more so than I've experienced with other Tree House brews.

F - medium. Bordering on creamy but not quite that thick.

O - This strikes me as a more traditional "East Coast" IPA as opposed to a NE style brew. The bitterness brings the west coast to mind. I wish this is what Sierra Nevada had envisioned for their Tree House "East Meets West" collab ipa...or at least something closer to this. It's an across-style crowd pleaser.

Meep meep fellow NBSers! A smoke filled sky here in the Fourth Corner, as the effects of wildfires up in British Columbia continues to alter the weather here in Cascadia. It seems a bit lighter today, but it's still very noticeable. The sunsets have been amazing though.

Another reminder about NBS BIF #6. You should consider joining in. If you like fun and beer, that is: https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/nbs-bif-6-sign-up-thread.529897/

A slow work week for me this week, but an absolute monster awaits starting tomorrow, so today is for beer. A spring hire at my work is a delightful lass originally from Calan Ireland, by name of Sarah. Sarah recently went home for a visit with her Mom, and was kind enough to bring me back my first NBS entry for this day Galway Hooker (she swears it's a type of boat over there) Irish Pale Ale: https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/16414/39694/

Switching it up for something lighter: DFH SeaQuench Ale, a 4.9% ABV Kölsch-Gose-Berliner (according to DFH) brewed with lime and sea salt.

Yes, I know I'm hardly the first around here to try this out.

I think it's really darn impressive. Tart and tasty, with plenty of influence from both the salt and lime. Incredibly crushable, yet with a smooth and creamy (yet lively) body despite the low ABV. Really quite nice.

That's two straight beers with a notably +rDev, a relative rarity for me once, much less twice. I'll take that as confirmation that I bought wisely today.

    Cheers!

I'll start off by thanking @lordofthewiens for another introspective kick off today. I enjoyed golf for a number of years before hanging it up some time ago. I can relate to what he's saying! I respected the game, but sometimes my competitive spirit and shitty play would turn me into a very irritable person. Life and circumstances pulled the people I played with in other directions and eventually I lost interest. Maybe I'll make a comeback one day like I did with running? On to the present.....

It's a very pleasant cloudy day with a nice breeze that's feels like early September. I got up early and did a long run and hit up Panera for a light breakfast, then walked my little mutt. I'm in need of some patio time and a beer! This 375ml bottle of Petite Sour Raspberry from Crooked Stave in Denver with it's low 4.5% abv. sounds perfect. Pouring this undated bottle into my Crooked Stave tulip to find out what awaits us?

Pours a cloudy reddish-pink leaving behind a few centimeters of pink foam that disappears almost instantly. No lacing is left behind, but there's some tiny carbonation bubbles that can be seen surfacing. The smell is tart raspberry, band aid and musty oak. Taste is a tart raspberry with oak tannins and mild perfume. A little grass and earthy mustiness are there to a lesser degree. The feel is crisp and tart with a very dry finish.

It reminds me of a slightly sweet and mildly tart liquid version of a raspberry candy. The rather tame 4.5% abv. makes this a perfect summer patio beer. Refreshing without being overly sour with easy drinkability makes me believe I'll go back and buy another to enjoy while the warm weather is still around. My score is 4.09 / rDev +0.2%.

The Wings of Freedom tour is at the regional airport this weekend providing some interesting sights of vintage warbirds. This B-25 was lumbering overhead as I typed this on my phone causing me to promptly switch to camera mode.

Hoping to join in with a couple more as I'm backed up with quite a few new beers. Here's the official scorecard for this one......

I had this beer at a share 5 years ago. Absolutely loved it. Thick, chocolately...all the flavors came together so well. I was one of those people who raved about it. Now that it hit PA distro, I tried another bottle a few weeks back. Not the same beer at all. Lighter, with muted flavors. What on Earth happened?

First up today some Tree House Eureka with Mosiac. Thank you @CanConPhilly for this, Tree House is calling it a blonde ale but with the hoppiness I would call it a session IPA.

O- More of a session IPA than a blonde ale, very easy to drink, great summer beer.

Table Legs a 5.4% ABV Honey Hibiscus Saison from Twin Elephant. The only other beer I've had with Hibiscus in it was Grandes Lagos from Great Lakes Brewing. That was a very enjoyable and refreshing brew. It was nice to see a local beer with it. The first thing one will notice about Table Legs is the color, it's pink, bright pink sort of how Hawaiian Punch looks. Even to thick white head has a slight pink hue. The aroma is honey (a local honey in used) and Hibiscus. The flavor follows the taste but is too sweet IMO. The grains used are Pilsner and Spelt. The hops used are Crystal, Vic Secret and Citra. The grains and the hops used doesn't matter since they are overpowered by the honey and hibiscus. A number of times in the past I've stated on this board that I think beers should taste like beer. This brew is a very nice refreshing drink on a warm and sunny day but it's not a IMHO a beer.

I have to say the next beer I did not realize was a session IPA until I opened it today. I picked this up at a bottle shop in Reading, PA last week and since my boss drove me I was in a hurry (the crazy PA beer buying laws I was not aware of did not help either). This one is from Vault Brewing Modern Muse session IPA brewed with Waimea and Simcoe hops. I grabbed it because it was behind the counter had just come in and someone there said it was good. I am not a huge fan of session IPAs but I do like the fact it keeps my wife off my ass by being 5% and I do not have to hear her say "You don't need all of those 8% - 10% beers!! This one has some decent flavors and is an easy drinking session with a nice balance of hops and a touch of malt.

Appearance 4.25 - Pours bright semi transparent golden color with thick soapy white head that holds up well. Lots of lacing around the glass.

Aroma 4 - Lots of pineapple, resin and grapefruit. There is a hint of a very light malt backbone along with a touch of sweetness.

Taste 3.75 - Mostly grapefruit and pine flavors. The light malt flavor is well balanced with the hop bitterness and resin.

Feel 4 - Medium bodied smooth creamy feel on the mouth and a touch of dryness on the finish.

Overall 3.92 - I am usually not a huge fan of session IPAs but the flavors on this one are really good and it is pretty easy drinking.

That sounds delicious. Assuming they barreled it before the recipe change, of course.
