    Howdy, LNBSers. :beers:
Had to work today, and had some stuff to do when I got home, so NBSing a tad late.
Pleasantly surprised by this one. Looking at other reviews, I apparently lucked out and got the real deal, actually from Jamaica.

    3.55/5 rDev +18.3%
    look: 4 | smell: 2.75 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 4 | overall: 3.75

Best by date : 8/23/17 | Brewed & bottled by DESNOES & GEDDES Limited, Kingston, Jamaica.

Pours clear gold, with white head.

Aroma is sweet, bready malt, wet straw, and some floral hops.

Taste is similar to aroma, but less sweet, and less intense/saturated. There is a light, pleasant, bitterness on the finish.

Feel is light/watery, sliding into light/oily, with very fine carbonation tingle, that works with the light bitterness to provide a dry, crisp finish.

AALs are NOT my thing. The aroma is especially what turns me off. HOWEVER....., this stopped just short of that, then surprised me with better flavor, & a nice crisp bitterness, rather than a rounded-off corn sweetness. I actually like it, and wouldn't mind having it again, from time to time.

After having my palate (apparently) roughed up by a S.Tier 2XIPA , about all I can say about this is : "pretty good". Solid, satisfying lager, but I had trouble picking out the individual elements. Along with being post-IPA, I was working among tomatoes, basil, & other strong-smelling plants at the time. I couldn't get past that, even when I walked away for a few minutes.

    Greetings All:

Today we have Otter Water out of Pillipsburg, Montana.
    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/29822/221494/
    Light with a malt backbone.

Winds have shifted and the wild fire smoke seen in the last couple of weeks is exiting eastern Washington. Clear skies and moderate temperatures for the week ahead.

    Until next time,

    Happy Trails!

Just noted @ichorNet and @Lone_Freighter also reviewed this beer. Some basic similarities though I went a little higher on rating. I appeared to enjoy the feel and look a bit more than our fellow NBSers.

Ha! One of my 4 basic inside shooting locations. And of course, these were split with the GF, so really just one full WWS. So still mildly gutsy

My beers from earlier were too weak, barely got a buzz, time to fix that. Having my first full pour of Oak-Aged Vanilla World Wide Stout. Here is some background on my WWS experiences, in the summer of 2012 I spent a week tackling a 2006-2011 vertical one beer a night. Based off of the first night I wasn't super excited about the second night since the freshest bottle was a total mess, but as the week progressed I noticed the the alcohol really does fade and after 4-5 years it goes from shit to sublime, my review of a 5 year bottles was 4.85. I love WWS Aged and know what this beer can become, I have had two 10 year old bottles in the last year and they were truly a great and unique experience that I highly recommend. With all of that being said here is my review of Oak Aged Vanilla World Wide Stout:
    4.09/5 rDev -5.3%
    look: 4.25 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 4

12 oz bottle, dated 6/15/17, poured into a snifter

A- Black with a small mocha head.

S- Dark fruits, some what port like, chocolate, vanilla, alcohol, oak. Deep, complex and boozy.

T- Chocolate, lots of vanilla, some dark fruits, alcohol, oak, some roasted coffee.

M- Full body, some alcohol burn, but not too harsh given the high ABV.

O- Vanilla and oak really help the make this drinkable. It is still boozy, but less boozy than I expected from a stupid fresh bottle. Based off of old notes I would say this drinks a lot like 1-2 year old WWS as far as the alcohol goes. Still needs some time to smooth out.
There are some definite and noticeable difference from regular WWS which are better than fresh WWS, but it is not as good as well aged WWS, cheers!

Had this at Hop House with a mushroom grilled cheese sandwhich. Nice hoppy flavor but looks pretty light in a glass I mean like a macro lager light but so much more flavor. Tastes bigger than the 4.8 ABV. Allagash never seems to disappoint but their beers are a little bit too pricey for being a regular in my fridge.

Hi all, my new beer for today is Otter Creek's Daily Dose. It came in a variety pack I picked up yesterday along with Free Flow, Backstreet Berner and an Oktoberfest. I'm already a big fan of the other 2 IPAs in the pack, so I had high hopes for Daily Dose. It didn't disappoint! Here's the beer in an apparently filthy glass-

    And here's my review-

    4.08/5 rDev +3.6%
    look: 4 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 4

Look- pours a cloudy light orange, 1 finger off-white head. a little lacing

Aroma- intense orange and mango with bready malt at the end

Taste- Orange and mango with firm breadiness under that, finishes with mild grapefruit rind bitterness

    Feel- fairly light-bodied, crisp

Overall- very enjoyable "light" IPA at 5.5%. Nice fruity hops with clearly defined flavors somewhat balanced by breadiness.

Well Hello Late Night NBS (aka West Coast Time)
Thanks to @cjgiant for the start. I always like what you and @lordofthewiens bring to our weekly gathering's start. I think you two gents have definitely done a great job rising to the call. I was a bit worries when Dave and Maria decided to bow out after taking over for Matt @mattcrill But thankfully, you have put your own stamp on our beloved little corner of BA, and continued the tradition of making it a warm, welcoming place to imbibe.

My summer has flown by. As a former intrepid wanderlust, who later got into teaching, I thrive on travel during my summer. Well, there was no travel this summer. As I mentioned here before, I worked for my school district for the first few weeks. Then it was all about projects around the house. One of which was digging up the whole, war torn backyard, dropping the soil level down a few inches, tilling, and finally laying new sod. I had forgotten how hard some of that work was. (It had been years). But at least I decided to finally implement my plan when we were having a heat spell. High 90's and humidity in late June and early July. Yeah, I'm a teacher, but I'm not sure how smart I am. Anywhoo, the new rescue dogs have torn up a good fourth of the lawn now...:flushed:
So now, summer is over. I've been back at work for a week, and tomorrow is the first day with students. Like each and every year, I'm a little excited, and a little anxious. It's kinda funny, but even though I've been doing this for nearly two decades, I still get a little nervous on the first day of school. Funny, but true.
    And now to beer. I just popped this one;
Artifex Brewing's The Seagull Has Landed
Not bad, but I was hoping for something a little more wowing to end summer right.

Yay! The thread is still open and I actually participate in a NBS for once. I've never drank an entire kolsch before, nor reviewed one, so now is the perfect opportunity to describe my thoughts.

The kolsch of choice is Reissdorf Kolsch. It comes in a clear golden color with a big creamy white head, with excellent staying power and lacing.
The aroma immediately reminds me of Yuengling and a bunch of other similar lagers. There's a sweet breadiness of toasted brown bread with honey, but I also get a big note of sweet red apple, as well as grassy hop character. It smells crisp and clean and lager-like.
The taste follows the nose pretty closely. The sweetness of the malt smacks you in the face right away, a delightful golden breadiness like toasted white bread that's been drizzled with honey, or perhaps biscuits baked with brown sugar. A tingle of grassiness like fresh lawn clippings offers just a subtle touch of balancing bitterness. You get that estery sweet red apple note that is discernably fruity, and with the biscuit and apple notes combined it reminds me of apple pie. However, it is not cloying, it finishes very crisply and cleanly like a well made lager, very refreshing and thirst-quenching. I can see why it's such a popular summer style!
The only thing about this that didn't remind me of an amber lager is the mouthfeel. It has a much fuller, rounder, and richer mouthfeel that reminds me more an ale, kolsch being the anomaly that it is.
Overall, I enjoy this quite a lot and will definitely revisit the kolsch style in the near future.

Hi there all you late night NBS'ers:

Just finished up tonight's episode of GOT and cracked a new beer:

Kern River Brewing - Just Outstanding IPA
    [IMG]

Look: Dark golden color with a big white head that stayed for awhile and had some good lacing.
Smell: There was a good aroma of hops, sweet floral smell and a little pine. However, the scent was not very strong.
Taste: Really liked the taste of this one. It was a good balance of hops and pine and some sweet malt. Also had a very dry finish, which is a favorite of mine.
Feel: Very smooth with a dry finish, had a good thickness to it also.
Overall: Really enjoyed this one. I grabbed it because its hard to get fresh Kern River hops where I am at, but this was canned on 7/25, and I am glad a bought a sixer of it.

Both my wife and I had one at the Brew Cafe over lunch. They were not as Hoppy as the canned one. Upfront the hops were present, Vanilla seemed to arrive afterward. Pour was hazy as expected. Very little head on it. Truly enjoyable. First time having these.

Well, this week's revelry is over. The new beers have had their day and will become a part of our everyday rotation or not. We will get another chance to rejoice in coming together to describe the qualities of a new beer in a mere seven rotations of the Earth's axis. Consider this your invitation. Cheers!!

With that odd screw top packaging, and "water" being the most dominant thing on the label, I'm surprised that that beer is able to exist in that form.

One difference is that it is a wheat beer; Blonde ales typically are not brewed with wheat.

Would you consider a Wit to be a Blonde Ale?

    Cheers!
