This really hurt my head this morning

 

No offense but @jrnyc you need to tone it down here on this site since you've been kinda hypocritical on this and the thread you created about https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/beer-traders-must-have-profile-visible.545830/. You opened some interesting ideas but missed the target completely in your over-zealous approach to the issues. You stated that "your profile must be visible so other traders can see when you were last online." I posted my modification on your suggestion to apply ONLY to the BAD TRADERS, not everybody else. You have your own profile settings currently set to hide when you are online, which is fine yet you post this thread to have it made mandatory to be set at visible for everybody.

Bottom line, you hurt your own position when you overdo it and yet are making fine distinctions that you yourself do not observe. Not saying that you are wrong, but I got to agree with @rozzom that you been incredibly disparaging while giving yourself a pass (from the other position).

 

I have serious doubts Mylar was a true double this weekend, maybe 1.5 at most. It just doesn’t make sense when you’ve had other releases last much longer- where they had longer lines for longer periods of time with more hype than Mylar.

 

Just to clarify - I hadn’t seen that thread about online visibility and wasn’t really commenting on that. I think @jrnyc is a valuable member of BA and we probably share the same sentiments about 90% of things discussed on here. And by “you” i meant anyone that trades or supports trading, who at the same time has a fully “resellers are the problem” mentality that they articulate on here - there’s plenty of them.

I appreciate you agreeing with my post, but just want to clarify what I was and wasn’t referring to - don’t want to open an unrelated can of worms.

 

Agreed. There are many things that @jrnyc posts that I and many people can agree with or at least consider. However, he's prone to overdoing his argument as well as certain other people on this site (and we all know who they are).

Sure, state your opinion but when you overdo or have inconsistencies in your position that you don't bother to correct (or clarify), you tend to lose credibility.

For the record, I do believe that @jrnyc is a fine BA'er.

I definitely knew I was opening up a can of worms and possibly opening myself to criticism by being a trader and criticizing beer resellers at same time. I do think there are degrees of right and wrong though that doesn't stop anyone who breaks one rule/law from railing against something they think is far more serious. There is big difference between someone who trades a 4 pack or a couple of bottles of beer from time to time versus a group of people/mules who line-up every week multiple times scooping up cases of beer from many breweries and selling them illegally for profit.

In general I love the beer community, it is pretty awesome, but like every culture there is a piece of it that is negative. I definitely come out pretty strong against what I think are some of the unsavory parts of it. Someone needs to do it, many do, but the whole site of course is slanted towards the beer culture and the people who do what we like and what some of us rail against.

It's funny I always had a hunch that most of the #linelyfe crew was either from Jersey or Long Island, but once you see the posts in the OH muling groups then you realize it's actually true.

why does this always turn into bashing NJ or LI as mules/lynelifers (disclaimer i have no idea what that even means)

is there a notion that no one from the boroughs sells beer?

again just curious...possibly jealous, maybe that it is so cold out my neck is freezing
