Rye IPAs...not terribly common, but I love 'em. My favorites are Rhinegeist Streaker (their best beer IMO) and Great Lakes Rye of the Tiger (sadly, no longer available). They have a really nice spicy kick, but I also find they also have a rounded caramel-ly sweetness that appeals to me.

What are some of your favorites? I'd love to check out a few of your suggestions as one that I mentioned is no longer around and the other is only a seasonal.

I’m a big fan of the rye ipa as well. Some local favorites include the Lion Tamer Rye Ipa from Hi-Wire Brewing (a seasonal) and Terrapin Rye Pale Ale (very hoppy).

Real Ale Full Moon Rye IPA. Very easy to pick up in Texas, great price at around $8 a sixxer, and hits all the bitter citrus/pine and rye spice for me.

Black Acre Brewing in Indianapolis brews a Rye IPA called "Saucy Intruder". Its one of their 2 flagship beers and is available in cans. Unfortunately, I don't think its distributed outside of Indiana. I see you're just next door in Ohio, so maybe look for it if you're ever over this way. I don't drink too many rye IPAs, so I'm not sure how it compares to others, but I enjoy it.

Alpine Nelson is a good one, haven't seen it around in a while though.

Founders red's rye is a classic.

Two brothers cane and ebel is my favorite rye beer... it's hoppy but not sure if they categorize it as a rye IPA or not...lines get blurry with styles.

    LOVE this style.

In addition to what's been mentioned: Bear Republic does a Hot Rod Rye and Smuttynose does a Rhye IPA. Stoneface also does one but don't think you can get their brew outside of NH.

2nd Alpine Nelson. One of the great IPAs let alone Rye IPA. Was inside the top 100 BA beers for a long time until GreenFlash bought the brand and subsequently drove this incredible beer into the ground. One of life’s great mysteries.

Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye was a good and easy to find version. A more local one I enjoy is Carton Red Rye Returning. If you happen to find yourself in Tucson, AZ then Dragoon Ryelander would be a good option.

You mentioned that you like the slightly caramel malt sweetness. Have you considered good English IPA? I had some Harpoon IPA recently and it hit the spot.

Another one that is rotating is Firestone Walker Leo v. Ursus: Inferos. Really enjoyed this one and Nelson is my all time favorite.

Love this style as well. Will keep my eyes open for the suggestions mentioned in this thread.

I'll second Carton's Red Rye Returning. I had Rye Works from Industrial Arts this past weekend and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, both have limited distribution.

Westbrook's One Claw is classed as Rye Pale Ale, but if I recall it was a hoppy and delicious

I second One Claw from Westbrook, it is a great rye IPA (although it's classified as an APA). It's easy to get as well (if you're in distro, not sure what their distro is though).
