I'm shocked to read all of the high praise for CBS on here. I had it on draft last night and tasted no maple (even at room temperature) and it was as thin as water. I really wanted to love this beer since I've never had it before. I have a couple of bottles of it, so I'm genuinely hoping the bottles are better than what I had on tap last night. I did enjoy the coffee aspect of it, but when I hear people describing the maple flavor and viscosity I feel like I had a completely different beer. I know everyone's palates are different, but I can't help but wonder why this beer tasted so different to me than it did to others. I feel left out (insert sad face emoji here).

It was released in many places in the Milwaukee and Madison areas today. I was on business in Oshkosh and it was released in that area also. Every place I know of that released it also sold out pretty quickly. I am sure there are some stragglers out there at the smaller shops however.

A bunch of places will also be releasing on Monday.

I'd question if they poured you the correct beer.

I didnt get overwheleming maple, but it was nicely balanced between the bourbon barrel, coffee, chocolate, and maple barrel. Pretty creamy but not like a milkshake or anything.

Telling someone to meet you at a six corner intersection and not say which corner tells us all we need to know about you.

Still better than 3 stores in Metro Flint at $35 a bottle. That is damn near $40 out the door. Those are NYC prices, yet people still buy it.

I just picked up 3 bottles in socal and just like kbs, this beer is blah. The midwest/east coast isnt doing shit for ba beers. If they came out with this every year this would be a big time shelf turd. The west coast does hazy ipa's and ba beers right. You guys arent shit.

All you guys who are talking shit about the beer are comparing it to dessert beers with syrupy spoonfuls of maple and sweet flavor; too sweet if you ask me. CBS is not supposed to be like that. Cloying is not a good thing.

I’ve only had the 2014 CBS, not 2011, but I had probably 20+ pours of it, so take that for what it’s worth.

The issue is that all the 2014 pours I had absolutely fit your above description of dessert beers. The beer I drank last night was pretty good but not what I remember, with maple flavor and viscosity being the main, easily identifiable differences.

Generally when I experience a beer differently after a few years I chalk it up to palate change, but the difference is significant enough here I don’t think that’s what’s happened.

Let me be clear, I do think it was delicious and will still buy several bottles, it just 1. Wasn’t the same beer I’ve had in the past and 2. didn’t quite reach that next level when you look at the complete package.

Man, you really went for the jugular dude. I think I speak for all of us here in saying that your criticism has hurt our feelings and I'm not sure if we will ever recover from this.

I can attest to the watery mouthfeel. I encountered that, and it was disappointing. The maple however was pretty noticeable for me. More so at room temp. Maybe that was just a bad pour?

I enjoyed my first bottle yesterday. Thought it was good. Thin like everyone else has said. I always felt KBS was a bit on the thin side too though. It's magnified a bit more do to the BCBS I was drinking this week.

You are very rude; I hate you. You also seem to be lacking some intelligence based on your decision to purchase 3 bottles of a beer that's similar to a beer that you know you don't like, both of which originated from the same shitty non-west coast brewery.

Lol, why u mad bro? Regretting paying $100 for a 4 pack of Tree House cans? Yeah, you let me know when you can go buy 3 bottles of those east coast beers off the shelf.

Yeah, because KBS and CBS are totally representational of the entire midwest, oh wait.... AND the east coast stout scene.
