Well, limits have been announced and it sounds like there's plenty of Hipster to go around. Also looking forward to bottles of Hazel's Nuts, however limited it may be. I'll be there at open, maybe see some of you there!

    No limits on Hipster Brunch.

Maybe I'm alone on this, but what would be wrong with, say, a 2-3 case limit? Seems like allowing people to buy as much as they want mostly just enables resellers, and wouldn't it be better for Odd Side to send more out into distro?

Agreed. If there is one thing I've learned it's that any time there are no limits on a limited, desirable beer, people will be scooping up cases as if there is no tomorrow. Brewery will then be shocked by this, apologize to those who got shut out and then mention they'll add limits in the future release. Maybe Odd Side does have tons of this stuff where this will not be an issue but I've seen many instances where this scenario does not end well.

You are in no way alone on this; the Perrin No Rules 12oz fiasco cemented this for me. No matter how small the brewery they need some sort of limit or it will end badly

I thought the no rules release ended great! Lol sorry. I agree with you actually...

I have to agree it seems pretty crazy to release with no limits. I'm definitely looking nice forward to the release and meeting some BAs from my home state.

Oddside just held a release with no limits on the main offering. People thought they were going to run out, but no one got shut out of the Mayan. They had to get more from the production facility which slowed things down, but everyone got whatever they wanted of the Mayan and there was a ton left over. I would think just having a release with an unexpected number of people showing up, Oddside has a pretty good idea of what to limit and what not to limit. Especially given that they are limiting some of the stuff. Plus, they make more money selling it themselves at the brewery than sending it out for distro. From their perspective, why would you hold any back?

You forget the part where staff told people that they were out so they left only to find out that oops there was more at the production facility...tough break for those told who left with nothing because of a poor setup & poorly informed staff.

Ouch, never heard that, but that sucks, sorry for those of you who were told that even though that wasn't the case.

What time was that? I got there 2:30/3:00 to no line and BBAIMM waiting to pick up.

I'd guess around 1:30. The couple in front of me left, although it wasn't exactly clear that they were even waiting for BBIMM. It was definitely circulating that they had run out.

I'll also say this: even though they didn't run out of BBIMM, it seemed a little silly to me that they wouldn't put some kind of limit under 1 case on Morning Wood, especially now that it appears they will have a one *bottle* limit on Black Friday. Oh well, my growler of MW was fantastic--great constellation prize.

That was about the time, maybe a bit earlier. I was out of town but my friend was there for MW first but that sold out so they moved to the Joker line which sold out then finally BBIMM but left after asking a staff member if the rumor was true & being told yes.

The upcoming bottle release will be the first time there for me. I was wondering (since you can buy a few cases) if people needed to bring a cart or dolly to take their cases or does the brewery bring them to your car (like at the Dark Horse 4 Elf party). Thanks.

I would like some of Hazel's Nuts. Hope there is a decent amount.

Odd Side had employees helping you get beer to your car. No need for your own dolly.

I'm planning on being at this one bright and early for the opening. I'm going to guess there will be more than a few people here for this, but being that it's my first Odd Side Ales release I'm not sure what to expect. What I do know is that I'll be buying a case of Hipster Brunch Stout (much to the dismay of the wife haha), a 4 pack of Scallywager to get a better idea of what this BA IPA hype is all about, a 4 pack of Hazel's Nuts, and a bottle of Morningwood. This is of course given that all of these are still available for purchase.

I take a little different mindset on Morningwood in that I'll be happy just to buy a bottle of it. I've had it a few times on tap at the pub, and it's a solid beer (I should've been more on the ball when this and BA Mayan Mocha were released a few weeks ago at the pub). Also regarding not limiting purchases; I realize they'd probably get their been in more hands by doing a limit and pushing more to distribution, but it seems to me they'd stand to make more on their beer by selling directly to us (consumers). Anybody in the distribution / brewing side of this please correct me if I'm wrong here, as I have little no experience to go from in regards to this. Just seems that if we're paying $100 a case, a distributor would be getting said case for much less due to transportation, storage, and any other logistical costs associated with getting that case to the market (stores).

After stumbling upon quite a nice amount of BA Mayan Mocha last night I was able to enjoy a bottle. I'm kicking myself pretty hard for not buying more when I could, as this one is incredible. Something about the right level of heat, with the bourbon finish just does it for me with this beer. The Wife wasn't happy hearing that a 6pack ran me around $30, so I can only imagine what I'm going to hear when I try explaining the $150 beer purchase on Black Friday :grimacing:. And that's just for the to go beer. I have never been disappointed by their offerings on tap either whenever I get a chance to stop in. I'm excited to see what they pull out (other than the 2 already mentioned in their release post).

On a side note, I really appreciate the hell out of Odd Side Ales' pricing structure. When you can buy a case of some quality BA goodness for $100, it's a beautiful thing. (This also goes for many other Michigan breweries).

What time are people planning to get there? I live in GR but will be making my way there from the east side that day. Should I be shooting for around 2 hours before? I am planning to bring some coffee and donuts for people in line.

2 hours seems like a little much IMO. I'm guessing an hour early and you'd still get your whole allotment.
