Good morning BAs! Today's New Breakfast Beer:

I know, it's a bit past the season, but this isn't the only pumpkin-based beer I have remaining.

    Geezer Rock!

This is quite possibly the best Pale Ale I've ever had. Really nice floral and citrus aromas in the nose and incredibly intense, juicy citrus flavors on the tongue, complemented by biscuity malts, just a hint of pine and a medium bitterness For a 5.8% Pale Ale, the depth of flavor really is remarkable here.

If ever there was a beer made for Monday mornings, it is year old FBS.

A great song to hear on a Monday morning while dropping Jr off at school. And an appropriate titled song for these days.

I have to get another six pack of this, as it's the perfect beer to drink before/after/with anything barrel aged/stout/dark this time of year.

Looking at the above sentence, I realize I may like beer just a bit too much.

Time to slow down after a fast run and dog walk. It's a warm but crazy windy morning and the extended forecast looks cold with some snow. I need to wash some windows before that happens. A glass of Sunday Morning Stout first! This 16 bottle poured like thick black oil and was darker/thicker in appearance than the CBS I had yesterday. I need to check my score on this for the look. Cheers to another Monday, let's have a great week!

    Good morning BA
I should have saved this one for NBS, but "saving" IPA'S is not my thing.

I've wanted to try this beer since I started lurking on WBAYDN in 2014. Then it shows up (presumedly) fresh with bb 4/3/18 on the shelf at my local liquor store. This is a west coast IPA time machine and I'm enjoying the trip. Hope you are enjoying what's in your glass today!

    Round #2
This morning is my Friday night and Friday morning is my Monday morning, so forgive my exuberance today. All of @Chipotle's Smuttynose posts have been making me think I need to pick some up. I was highly disappointed to find no Baltic Porter or Really Old Brown Dog within 100 miles on their beer finder. I was not disappointed to find a 2015 bottle of each in a cellar box I packed away two years ago.

This has aged beautifully. Maybe not better than fresh, but still delicious and not oxidized or chunky. It makes me sad I have shelves full of half-ass IPAs at my favorite store but nothing like this. Cheers all and enjoy a great beer when you can!

Deciding on what I wanted to drink with lunch I glanced out the window and got inspiration from the foliage . . .

Beautiful reddish amber color with white cap.

Scent of caramel and spicy hops.

Taste is malt forward and slightly sweet. Brewer calls this a Vienna Style Beer and it certainly has a richer malt presence in a caramely way and unlike some other amber/red brews I've had the hops really come out in this one without taking away from the central malt character. Hop presence builds toward the finish and leaves a refreshing touch in the aftertaste.

    Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

This is not your Father's amber if he drank Yuengling.

Drinking a new beer from Sweden's second largest macro. A 6% abv pilsner. They have a 4.5% abv pilsner of the same brand which uses pilsner and munich malt, Magnum and Saaz hops, and this tastes and smells alot like that one only it is more full bodied and a bit sweeter. The same beer was originally 4.8% abv and 30IBUs, but was watered down (most likely quite literally) to the 4.5% in order to win a monopoly tender. I thought the 4.8% was a really solid pilsner from a Swedish macro but the dilution down to 4.5% made it no favors, it tasted watered down and unbalanced. Now they seem to have won a new product tender with the same basic beer only in a beefed up form which I find interesting. I think the end product is really tasty, the increased gravity (the 4.8% version was 11.3% OG, so to get 6% abv I'm guessing the OG might be slightly over 12%) means it has a more substantial body and it has a really pleasant bready malt taste (which I'm guessing comes from the Munich malt), the bitterness is well balanced and must be around 30IBUs. The hop flavors are also distinct and quite tasty. This brewery typically brews either malty and clean beers or hoppier, clean and somewhat thin beers, with this beer they are combining the two. If they could find a way to produce a similar body and malt flavor in a beer right above 5% instead of 6% (like alot of German breweries) it would be a homerun in all respects.

To me, Racer 5 - along with Port Mongo - are 2 of the more underrated beers. Cheers
