    Very nice Berliner Weisse with a nice and mellow citric sourness and quite a bit of saltiness.

    Mrs. Z is still in bed (it’s 4pm here); long travel days really wear her out...I’ve walked down to the local train station to get maps/info, walked around our neighborhood/town, and picked up a couple of biers from the local grocery store. First up is one brewed for the grocer COOP, a lager, “Tell”:



    More grainy than corny with just a little DMS. I think this is actually better than a lot of “Lager - Euro” beers I’ve had, and my cheap ass loves that it is less than a dollar a pint! I’ll drink again - Cheers from Zürich!

    Quick grab out of the fridge to wash down some chilli . . .

    Rich caramel malt on entry backed by floral, spicy hops. Dryer than the scent indicates, fairly simple flavors which for descriptive purpose I'll call Vienna malt and noble hops. Flavors are consistent all the way through, finishing clean and crisp with lingering malt touches in the aftertaste. This one strikes me as a moreso sort of amber with more malt and more hop flavor clearly a step above regular AALs running just far enough ahead of that pack to be noticeable without aspiring to greatness.

    My first beer from Croatia - Karlovacko, a lager that smells like corny vegetable soup, but thankfully doesn’t taste bad at all:
