    Rise and shine BAs.

Unlike most of Northern America, the weather in Europe is almost mild. 15 degree celcius yesterday afternoon.

We mostly miss the sun and I have to turn on the lights home by noon for a decent picture...

    Westmalle Tripel...

    Cheers.

Awesome Session IPA, almost a NEIPA Light. Body may be a little bit thin, but the juicy, zesty tropical/citrus fruit aroma and taste is just amazing for the ABV. Seriously, I've had full fledged NEIPAs that didn't taste this good.

Nine degrees this morning, a veritable heat wave. Supposed to hit the mid twenties today, the warmest it's been in over a week. There's a possibility for a major storm tomorrow.
Starting my day off with this porter. I really like the artwork on the can.

these are still sitting around on the shelves of my local 'gourmet' market - 2 for $20 - I've seen them sitting around in some other shops for $14.99 - not the way it used to be.....

Good morning BAs! Well, I sacrificed nearly six hours yesterday and went grocery shopping with my wife. It's my fault because I wanted to go to the post office to mail a letter and then she said "well, since we're going that way anyway, I want to pay for the storage shed". Of course we can't go there without some treats for their lab, so back home for doggie treats then to the storage office and THEN to the post office and then "I want to stop and pick up a new electric blanket". The problem is that Mrs. Lizard can't go into a store and get what she wants - she has to wander aimlessly for hours. She doesn't understand that this is why I usually refuse to go with her. Before this story gets as long as yesterday's expedition, the whole point was, as we left Walmart I said that it felt like it'd really warmed up. The temperature was now 15 degrees. So I guess I'm now acclimatized to winter. End of story.

    Today's New Breakfast Beer:

Very nice Flanders Oud Bruin - tart but still very drinkable.

Funny story about this batch of homebrew. My brother in law drank one that was in a Corsendonk bottle and apologized for drinking one of my expensive beers. I could only laugh telling him it was homebrew. It's getting tarter gradually as the added cherries were just washed and frozen, not pasteurized.
Enjoy what's in your glass today BA!

Great Alt beer brewed in Cologne :astonished:, with a distinct roasted, slightly smokey character.

Having a N’Ice Chouffe. A wonderful winter beer from La Chouffe.

No wonderful winter here at the moment. But it was winter in Chouffe Country a couple of days ago. Pictures below are taken last Friday, not very far from Achouffe. Just to give an impression where this winter warmer comes from (snow is gone by now however).
    Cheers!

Taste on entry is hop forward with a burst of citrus that elevates the brew well above the heavy handed hopping sometimes found in IPAs. There is a brightness in the hopping that's quickly joined by a restrained caramel sweetness as if the two were melded in a symbiotic fashion at birth. There's complexity here with all the parts distinct yet fully integrated into a whole. Great balance all the way with lingering hop bitterness in the aftertaste that lasts not in a harsh way but shining brightly like a lamp in the darkness.
