What are the collective thoughts on people who'll take a $18/4pk and in turn put it on eBay for $50?

    For example

Personally I feel they're taking advantage. If it were at say $25 I'd understand. But over 2x the price?

Well, first of all selling alcohol on Ebay is against their terms of agreement, so you could be permanently removed from the site. That said, I don't believe they look for violators, and may only enforce when they get a complaint.

Who are they taking advantage of? Willing buyer, willing seller...

It seems this thread regards the morality of re-selling beer...can't believe it hasn't come up before!

It's supply and demand, unfortunately. For me, if I find a connection that has said beer for trade that I'm looking for, in exchange for something I may have or something I have access to, I'll make that trade.

I've found some jerkwads locally that definitely take advantage of the rarity of a certain beer release. Kinda sucks for the people that want to try it out because they really want it. But just like the sneaker community, I've found it's every person for themselves and if they can get a hold of it, they can control the price and such.

It should be noted that delivery on that item is free. From MA to FL it would be at least $15 shipping, not including the cost of packing materials.

So we assume all purchasers on eBay are over 21yoa?

My thoughts on this are exactly the same as my thoughts on the guy who buys up a truckload of generators after a hurricane hits and sells them at an inflated price: I respect the initiative and the willingness to take a risk in order to reap a potential reward. Capitalism and entrepreneurship. I see nothing wrong in it at all. Sell 'em if you've got 'em.

I must disagree. Sell beer for any price you want. I just won't buy it.

Fuck me on a need to live after a disaster and I only hope karma bends you over the rest of your life.

    Enjoy

Neither will I. I just don't fault those who do.
    Rather dramatic, don't you think?
Never said nor implied that they were. My thoughts on them are the same nevertheless.

No I don't. Live through a natural disaster and tell me how you feel about anyone jacking up prices on needs of life.

    Enjoy

I get the capitalism. Big difference between beer and screwing folks over
for a generator that would provide some life saving water, heat or electricity. Wow. Karma is a bitch.

I assure you that this community's opinions on this were covered somewhere in this recent discussion: https://www.beeradvocate.com/commun...orality-of-reselling-and-trading-beer.557261/

    TL;DR: There is no consensus.

Also, keep in mind your audience at this website is a niche of beer geeks. Our collective opinions will not be consistent with "normal" people who do not have excess interest, emotions, or ethical attachments to beer.
