Urban Family has recently made a big change. They're no longer distributing outside the Pacific Northwest and are focusing on improving their image here locally.

I wanted to pop in and say that this thread is super helpful and I'm looking forward to visiting this weekend. The positivity in the Seattle beer scene is refreshing.

it's working. the tap room has been filled out the past few times i've dropped in. doesn't hurt that the beer is great, too.

Well, sometimes we get off into the weeds, but in general, we like to help folks have a great visit. Of course, that comes with understanding that upon your return home you tell folks that it rained non-stop, the beer sucked, the people were cold, distant, had webbed feet (which you could see through their wool socks and sandals), and were constantly poking you with their big, yellow umbrellas.

So you've been Sloopersized back in the day, apparently.

Had to google it. I didn't know there was a name for it. Back in the day, yeah. I spent quite a bit of time there. You could say I was a regular.

Flying into Seatac next Monday with the fam and heading from the airport directly to Lake Quinault for 2 days/1 night, before heading back to Seattle for the rest of the week. Looks like from Seatac to Lake Quinault we will be passing through Tacoma and Olympia. Any places not far off the path to swoop up some beers to take with us to Olympic NP?

Copper Door and Edison City are close to I-5 in Tacoma. Pint Defiance is about 10 minutes from I-5, off of Hwy 16, if traffic is good. In Olympia, Oly Taproom downtown always has a solid selection of bottles/cans/draft. If you want to drive a little out of the way, Matchless Brewing in Tumwater is probably 10-15 minutes past your exit onto Hwy 101.

Pint Defiance is the best out of all those, but the others are all really solid.

    Thank you!

I should have clarified something. We will be passing through around noon-ish on Monday, give or take. Not sure if these places will be open, but I will look into it. Any bottle shops with decent selection to be had along this route?

That eliminates Matchless. Everyone else opens at 11 or 12. They are all bottle shops, with bottles, cans(singles, as well), and drafts. Bring a growler. I also forgot to mention Well 80 in Olympia, just opened yesterday. Can’t speak on the beer or food yet, and I don’t know if they are filling growlers, but their space is really nice and well 80 of Olympia’s famous 96 artesian wells is in the back of the building, and they have some vintage Olympia Brewing decor, so if you’re into a little beer history, it might be a cool stop.

Will his route take him near Poulsbo? If so, I'd suggest Valholl. I'm a big fan of Silver City in Silverdale too.
