There's an old thread (2012?) out there for this, but decided to start a new one. If you were going to be drinking all day and wanted something with a lower ABV, what beer(s) would you choose?

Don't know aboot drinking all day long but BFD I can drink 2 or 3 of in a session.(as opposed to it being a true session beer)

Well, since I won't be in a British pub and would probably be forced to rely on what I can buy bottled in the US, I'd go with both the Yards's Brawler and the Yard's Philadelphia Pale Ale.

Edit: I might also include an occasional Poor Richard's Tavern Spruce as a change of pace from the other two.

My favourite I no longer get in Casper. Deschutes River Ale. :slight_frown:

The lower abv beers I enjoy are ipas in the 6.5-7 range. But for a true session beer that's easy to find, I'll throw all day ipa out there (founder's). It's easy to find, easy to drink and goes well with a burger. Now I'm thirsty/hungry...

Hm... If we're talking session beers based on the British definition of less than 4% ABV I'm not really sure. I think the only ones I've generally seen at that level have been sours and I wouldn't want a session of those.
But almost all of my home brews for the past year or so have been averaging to about 3.5%.

For an Americanized definition (below 5%) virtually all of my drinking remains there. I rarely tread above 6% ABV because I've just found that the beers aren't worth it.
My favorite beer in this level is probably Live Oak Pilz.

Just discovered Founders Solid Gold lager. Might be my new go-to session beer along with DESTIHL sours when I want something that makes my lips smack.

Fresh Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier @5.4% ABV. I don't drink all day long, rarely have more than one beer, but I would drink several of these if I were getting into it.

Mostly, my homebrewed table saison which usually comes in at 3.4% or so. I try to always have this on in the summer.

Also Weihenstephaner hefe, Sierra Nevada Nooner pils, and sometimes Genny Cream or PBR.

Atwater Decadent Dark Chocolate Ale, 4.5% ABV. These go down real easy.

I would consider this 5% and under... A new recent pick, actually...

Founders All Day IPA. Then name says it all. Although if Boat Beer by Carton Brewing Co. was more widely available, I would go with that (If you're in Jersey, try it!). Alas, I'm in California now, so it's time to crack open an All Day.

In terms of low ABV, Epic's Tart N' Juicy IPA is pretty darn enjoyable for the low abv.

As for session IPA’s, I find Lagunitas Daytime tough to beat. Coming in around 4.5 ABV, it’s citrusy goodness and full-bodied flavor, rivals some of its competitor’s “full” ABV offerings.
