Last month was a CRAZY month for beer. I've been in the industry for ten years and usually only drink a few beers a week. In March I tried 139 new beers (and PLENTY of meads) for the first time, surpassed 4,000 beers overall, took three beer trips, received three trade boxes, received a box from Belgium, and placed another Belgian order. I opened about forty bottles from my collection between a work trip, Tampa Beer Week, and March Madness shenanigans. Now it is time to refresh the collection, ORGANIZE my inventory, stock back up, and lose a little weight. Who's with me? Cheers!

I have a difficult enough time to accomplish alcohol free days, let alone entire months.

It is an admirable goal. After an extended break, beer always tastes different and better. Thing is, I crave chocolate and ice cream in the interim.

I tend to cry a lot when I'm not drinking. Come to think of it, I cry a lot when I'm drinking, too. Maybe I need to see someone about this?

Notwithstanding (but perhaps in part due to ) Tampa Beer Week, I managed 4 alcohol free days in March...not sure I can repeat such a feat in April...a whole month?...good luck to ya and God speed - you’re a better man than me Gunga Din!

Just a FYI - I read the subject line (didn't get to the post itself), pushed the snow off the truck and drove immediately to my local liquor store. This is NOT true - all the alcoholic beverages were being sold for the usual prices, nothing was "FREE" despite it being April 2.

Yeah, I'd say a few opinions would be advisable. Don't waste the tears.

Last week I cut off beer during the week. Noticed I was coming to work better rested and running a little stronger. I'll attempt to keep that schedule going forward but a BIF box just landed with 4 crowlers. I'd hate to let them sit another week....

By the way, cool cellar setup. I don't own nearly enough lambics to justify a rack, but it's a good ideal.

I take a booze free month once a year, typically January or February. It's always nice to have the assurance that alcohol isn't something that you're dependent on.

I don't really do full months, but lately I've been taking off a week here and there and only drinking Friday/Saturday night. Its a good idea to take breaks and I fully support it.

That’s an accomplishment. For the past 5 years, I don’t think I’ve been a whole month without at least a sixer.

Longest dry-spell might have been 2008 and 2011. About six months alcohol free both time. Quit smoking too.

I never downed as much as 139 new beers in a month, my beer consumption is steady at 1-2 beers a day. Some new. Some regular.

    Good luck.

Post of the Day. Can you imagine the riots at every liquor store in America or Europe if that was the case...?

This is a good idea, I am trying to keep my consumption to once or twice per week. A full month sounds good though.

Usually the only alcohol free day I have, is when I have the stomach flu

    My record is 6 weeks...in basic training...in 1981

I took 6 weeks off and it was great. At first it was hard but then I felt good and it was not a major issue. Honestly, when I started drinking beer again it was way better tasting to me, my palate was exhausted and now refreshed. Beer I was not happy with now tastes great again, its like hitting the reset button. Not to mention the weight loss and improved workouts. Cheers and good luck with your break, enjoy the down time, there is plenty of time to drink ahead, one month is nothing.
