I'm thinking of alternating between six packs and 20-40 ounces every other weekend or so.

What Pale Ales come in anywhere from 20-40 ounces?

What's the problem with just drinking 2 - 4 12 oz. bottles and getting close to 20 - 40 oz.?

A crowler and a Rolling Rock pony bottle should work twice a month..You're on your own for the six-packs.

To answer, it would help to know why. As @jesskidden indicates, the answer lies in increments of 12oz doses.

TG PseudoSue and XHops (all variants) are available in bombers. I WISH they were available in six packs of 12-ounce bottles. (Edit: like Zombie Dust.)

Is it really important to be able to say, " I only had one beer"? Three 12 oz. bottles is still less beer than one 40 ouncer, even though you'd have to say that you had three beers.

    I solved it. 2x12oz + 1x16oz = 40 oz. Math.

I am puzzled with this one, he posted something similar in the homebrew forum.

Certainly going for his sweet spot. Obviously the answer is a bomber of SNPA

OP may not be a troll, but it's hard not to have some skepticism toward posts from 'members' who signed up just yesterday and ask such head-scratcher questions.

The much maligned (and deservedly so) 22oz format bottle is your friend here. Two of those would put you at 44oz. Nobody's gonna ding you for 4 extra ounces.

This is really good Monday stuff. Mondays are often oblique and off the wall, which should remain fun, even if it's at no one's expense. Monday is a good day to man a bridge or to fish, I suppose....

    2. Because if I have a six pack or any amount of packs, I will obligated to drink more bottles.

    See what I mean?

    This guy gets it.

I have a penis and facial hair, but I will take that as a compliment. Thank you. :sunglasses:

I don't do cans as I feel I get a "tin flavor" rather then glass which as far as I can tell has no flavor.

    So is a bomber like a 20 or 22 oz "40 bottle"

Sorry I didn't think to upload this. What is the Arrogant Bastard of Pale Ales? I really enjoyed it but want more bitterness which I think equates to more Cascade hops.

So is your aversion to the extra bottles that you don't want them around b/c you may not finish the other 3 beers from the 6 pack?

Are you concerned that you'll buy a 6 pack, not like it, and then have 3-5 bottles laying around of beer you don't like?

What is the difference, for you, between drinking 3-4 12oz beers or 40 oz of beer?

My concern is that I will drink too much.

If I get "just drunk enough" off of one 40 oz or two 20 ozs (roughly) if there are no more bottles I can't nor will want to drink more beer.

Ah. That makes more sense. Breweries are starting to package some offerings in 19.2 oz. cans. That may be a good place to start. I think you'd have a hard time finding any craft beers in 40 oz format.

That said - and not to pass judgment here, but if you need to stop yourself from drinking by not having alcohol in the house...maybe that is worth some introspection.
We all enjoy drinking as a hobby, but if you aren't careful it can get out of hand. But good on you for proactively trying to keep things in check

Increased bitterness comes from hops added early in the boil - no necessarily Cascade. The bitterness can be balanced by sweetness and make the hop bitterness less perceptible. i.e. imperial stouts for example, are often high in bitterness, but do not taste that way b/c the bitterness is masked by malt sweetness.
If bitterness is what you seek, check the IBUs (International Bittering Units) of the beers you're buying. High number typically = more bitter.

In any case, best of luck to you, brother.
