I definitely think it is. I'm on 6-pack #3 already. It isn't a helles, an "American pils," an IPL, an AAL, etc. The hops are earthy and dialed back. There's also a toasty note that I typically get from British beers. The closest thing to it is probably FCB's old 1900 lager crossed with London Pride. It isn't quite that good (I love LP), but it scratches that itch for me. It's super unique and it suits my tastes really well.

Seems like it has complimented every different meal I had it with too. This will become a staple for me... another example of Odell staying with it so to speak.

Very much enjoyed the Shirtless Putin Catchin' Rays at Call to Arms recently. Its a dark euro lager and if you're in Berkeley, it's worth a look.

I need to try this stuff and reading these comments, I was gonna say... Is the Odell beer what Old Aggie could've/should've been?

Next time I am up in Denver, will definitely be grabbing some of that Odell Lager.

It's different and I feel there is room for both. I know at least one person who prefers Aggie to Odell. Old Aggie feels like a reinvention of what Shift probably should have been.

I don't know, I'm not a fan of the Odell lager. I also don't like their ofest, and disliked the double pilsner. I'm just not a fan of their hop profile, it's too pungent or something.

It's not a CO lager, but shit, whenever I can get Trumer on draft, I do. That beer has an amazing hop profile.

Fellow lager lover here, hitting Denver for the first time in a few days. I've read through most of this thread. Thanks for all of the great recommendations so far.

Obviously Bierstadt is high on my priority list. Odell Colorado Lager, Upslope Craft Lager, New Belgium 1554, TRVE Cold, Zwei Pils & Vienna are all on my radar as well.

Anything else hit the taps around town recently that I should be on the lookout for?

It isn't typically around on tap, but Grimm Brothers' Fearless Youth was a GABF silver winner. It's available in cans.

Dry Dock's helles and pils are both award winners. One or the other should be on at South Dock right now. Their Maibock should be, too. DD's not far off the path to the airport, so it's an easy stop on your way into or out of town.

Wibby (who posted on this thread) is another place doing lagers right. The Post, too.

Comrade's doing Cinco de Mayo on Saturday. That's where I'll be.

Comrade will try to do limes, but there's an issue with supply. A 200 count case was $15 in March . It's now $80+. You might have noticed that restaurants that used to use limes have switched to lemons

You clearly did a great job boiling down to the essentials in this thread!

I’ll add that Zwei’s Maibock should be around and is a guaranteed home run.. haven’t had Bierstadt’s, but assume its equally incredible.

I'm gearing up for my annual Cinco de Mayo party, and have been picking up lots of tasty local options. Based on stuff I've enjoyed in the past year, I'm getting Top Rope by Post, Heyzeus by Melvin, and Mexican Logger by Ska. I noticed that 2 of my favorites last year didn't seem to be around the two stores I looked at: Puesta del Sol by Weldwerks and Beerito by OB.

Has anyone seen either of those two beers around town? For Weldwerks in particular, I'm wondering if their recent 16oz canning focus has pushed that vienna lager to the back burner or even retirement?

I’m sure if you looked around you can still find that WW Vienna lager from last year... it was easily one of the turdiest shelf turds I’ve ever seen (not that the beer was bad or anything either)

Have we gotten a new jacks Abbey drop or are the ones I keep seeing from GABF?

So I did get a chance to try the reformulated Mamas Yella Pills, and it's great. The hop flavor is very "authentic" as intended, the body is crisp and a tiny bit malty, very smooth, very easy drinking. I definitely enjoyed it more than I did in the past. It should get a look as one of the best pilsners in the state if you like the Bavarian hop profile.

That. Used to be my favorite beer to drink straight from the can while grilling, hope that didn't change.

Bud & Bud Light are brewed with rice.

And of course the Japanese Rice Lagers (think Sapporo & Orion)

It adds fermentable sugar without a lot of color or flavor, adding a soft finish. One of my favorite rice beers (and favorite IPAs) is DRIPA from Kuhnhenn. Rice adds a great finish.

BIG STRETCH..... Anyone know the date on the change?

I have a Canundrum pack I picked up at Oskar Blues on Jahvanilla release for $4.20 and I wonder if I got an older pack of beer that had the previous MYPs in it? (hence also why they were off-loading it for so cheap?)

You had DRIPA recently? They ruined that beer badly.
