New to Ohio (2018)

Its like most new "distribution". Its shit. We just get really crappy limited drops of garbage beer and old stock they couldn't sell in their pre-existing network.

It happens so often now that I'm no longer excited when I hear of new breweries being added to Ohio's shelves. I don't patronize those companies; Ohio isn't your landfill.

 

Ehhh I’m happy. I haven’t tried their stuff before and I’ve heard good things. Worst that happens is I try it and it’s shit then I won’t try it again. I’m sorry but I’m not an orthodox “drink local” guy.

 

I'm not really giving feedback on the beer they make, just the nature of their distribution here.

 

Singlecut seems to be doing well in terms of quality of drops and how well people are perceiving it... which is actually a bit surprising given what they charge. Grimm popping up has been nice too.

It's not all bad / stale beer hitting shelves.

 

I finally got around to having the first Hoppin Frog Rare Beer Club release this year. It's a dramatic improvement over its base, and a fantastic Barleywine in its own right. The 12oz bottle really helps its cause too, being at 15% abv.

I'm going to pick up more while I can. It will probably be available to the public after the initial club sales period--the style isn't that popular around here and beers like that made it out to public last round.

 

Also, looks like they bottled Blueberry Turbo Shandy. I'm guessing they went back up to bombers for this instead of 12oz cans due to the smaller batch size

 

Downtown and just about thought I was drinking a Doppelganger by Tree House .

Columbus Lupulin Cloud really nails that creamy, fluffy medium-full mouthfeel that doesn't break, and the opacity is solid without any floaters or inconsistency in appearance. All kinds of dank cannabis on the nose and juiciness on the palate.

Incredible.

 

Quick update mother Stewart's brewing is starting to can their beers so far they have canned their Cashmere IPA and Witbier.

 

Grab the maple BA Northern Hosier when it hits public release. Grabbed all 6 of my 12oz bottles after trying it and will likely grab more when it opens back up.

Which companies would you say are the biggest offenders?

 

Plenty left at the Granville IGA

 

Hills Market downtown always has it. I’d assume Weilands and Savor have it too.

 

Saw a lot of it in Marietta. Webers Market and House of Wines both had quite a bit still.

 

Hoppin Frog. It's only been released to their beer club so far, but will hit public in a couple months.
