Discounting 2-1/2 Years in Iraq with nothing but near beer, Norway was bad. The local beer was Mack . It tasted like it came from the crankcase of a Mack diesel and it cost $6.00 a bottle back in 1996.

I guess which is the more expensive beer scene: Brazil!

OK, we get it, you hate Canadia, and you don't like the gub'ment. But, can you rationally and logically make a case for Canada having the "Worst Beer Scene on Earth"? Even worse than Saudia Arabia, Iran, or any of tbe number of other places listed in this thread? I don't think you can.

Larger than any "city" I've ever lived in during my 76 years on this planet. I think the city in Michigan that I grew up in is prolly up to 30,000, now.Presently live in the Delaware State Forest 35 miles from anything but a crossroads.

I find it interesting that the vast majority of this thread calls out geographic locations.

I've spent time in countries where great beer was difficult to come by, and people invited me into their homes and poured the best beer they had access to, generally a local adjunct lager. I view that as a great beer scene.

My worst beer scene on earth is an evening with beer snobs.

I'm not sure if this is the worst place on Earth, but it's pretty bad, IMO: South Korea.

I've lived here for a few years and they are trying to make it better, but it still is pretentious and underdeveloped. In general, there are many beer places that aren't careful with beer storage and brewery/keg cleanliness.

Some great ones in this thread and clearly places much worse but a notable black hole is southern Utah. Mormon dominated.

Comments on this thread are at least 90% comparing various US states. I didn't see your "Saudi Arabia mic drop" response to those.
No state, BTW, has any more severe & draconian liquor laws than Canada.....eg: anyone can at least bring a case of beer across any state line without getting charged with a crime.

Arrogance + ignorance is a toxic brew.

    Utah.

You can get popped for possessing beer without the Utah tax having been paid.

Its certainly not competing for an upper tier slot, but its not that bad ... There are several good breweries in the Miami metropolitan area, and the array of beers distributed there both on draft and for retail is very good. I go to Miami to visit family occasionally and Im always able to find good stuff easily.

Its amazing to me that there are that many dry counties still out there. Also, what the heck is up with Michigan and Ohio? Did not expect them to be almost completely yellow.

We kind of handled and answer to that in posts 137 and 152. Come and drink our beer. We're 'wet' in at least the places that we care about.

    Wow. Mormon-zombie Utah.
Are you always such an insufferable prick ?

Here's another education moment for you...if you are a Canadian and fly home from the afore-mentioned "repressive Utah"....you know how much beer you're allowed to bring home...and only then after being away for a minimum 48 hours ?? TWO dozen. TWO. Whoopee|!!!
Don't celebrate too much....bwa ha ha!!

I'm probably crazy on some level, but I've actually been checking on flights to Iqaluit. Getting there is, to say the least, no picnic. What are the odds that, when I finally make that arduous journey to Baffin Island and walk into NuBrew for my long-anticipated visit, @Mothergoose03 will be sitting there drinking a beer? Must be at least 3 to 1.

Jesus Fucking Christ homeslice. This Canada thing is beyond fetish for you, and is full-on obsession.

Fine, you win. All things Canadian are terrible. Enjoy your life.

    And, aww screw it.

Actually, since I live in a border county, and am familiar with the Canadian dialect, it's more like "soooory, want some TimBits?".

Do what I'm considering doing, get there by snow machine! We'll have to wait until the ice forms again, if it ever will, but at least we'll have 'wheels' to go on a pub crawl. What? That's the only pub?! I can't go all the way there to tick only ONE brewery!! You're on your own, dude. :sunglasses:

Hold on a minute. You are telling me that an American returning to the United States after 48 awful hours in Canada can bring back all the beer they want without surpassing a duty exemption limit? That is fantastic! If only our oppressive regime didn't crush us with duty exemption limits, we too could be happy...

It's a good thing our saisons taste like 'dogpiss,' as you noted earlier. With the low C$ right now, if the beer up here was any good, it would all be heading south!
