I saw that, but it was on June 6 over a month ago at this point. @John_M can we see if he's been on Ba since then?

Looks like he sent a message to OP on June 7 too looking at the original post. Curious to know if that's his last activity on here. If it is, he's either attempting to dodge the issue, or worse... If he has been on but just isn't posting, well then, that provides a lot more insight here.

I feel as if we've given @TheIPAHunter a sufficient amount of time to respond to this thread and explain himself. Given the dialogue provided in the OP, it sounds as if application of the BT label is appropriate at this point.

He hasn't logged on in over 3 weeks. If a bad trader thread doesn't get resolved, we'll simply ban the user. This is what we've done in the past, so tagging is (and was) pointless.

    Keep me posted.

I know him. I haven't talked to him in a month but if he said he was sick and in the hospital then he was sick and in the hospital.

@JayORear, I can't get you the beers you were looking for but I can send a few out from CT to make up for the loss. Shoot me a message.

I'm sure it's been suggested in the past, but is there any way to make it mandatory for traders to "Show your online status" and "Show your current activity"?

Agreed--there should be a higher bar for transparency as a trader, at least those two data points specifically.

I'd add anyone who has accepted the "Beer Trader" tag should not be able to limit who may view their full profile.

Can't you just remove the Choice for all users?

I really don't understand why anyone cares.

My girlfriend got your beer, but I haven't even touched it.

FYI, I haven't touched your beers or any beers for that matter.

    In addition to:

Crazy to me that you would even suggest a bad trader move

Really? Crazy? After two weeks of silence?

    Thou doth protest too much.

Hunter might be sick and he may have been in the hospital. That would suck, and I hope he ends up OK if that's the case. Like others, I find it wildly coincidental that his over-the-top defensive responses only came after threatening a BT thread.

I'm guessing those OH beers are gone. Consumed, traded, sold, or given away. Hope I'm wrong.

I might be alone here, burn i don't really think anything nefarious is going on. People seem to vouch for his character, so I don't think he double traded, sold, etc. I think he probably genuinely got sick, then decided he did not care anymore. Once someone goes on the defensive and they feel cornered, it's hard for a lot of people to come back full circle, hat in hand, and make everything right.

I don't think anyone's claimed he's been "nefarious." He has, though, re-neged on a trade, and I don't think anything I said to him should have made him feel cornered . . . I offered multiple times to work with him, and he just decided to disappear. Lastly, being a popular BA doesn't mean anything about his character, which I think was more than displayed in his responses back to me.

*Bad Trader* has until Friday night to respond or his account will be gonzo...simple as that. People need to respect each other, communicate, and fulfill their obligations. Status don't give you a free pass to be a douche bag with responses to correct the situation when you are in the wrong.

I wasn't really referring to the fact that what he did and/his own circumstances and what he said made him feel that way.

It's like when you know you have something you need to do around the house. You keep putting it off because even though it's only an hour of work, it feels like more. Then the more you out it off, the harder it feels to start it.

I think that's what happened here. Not saying he doesn't deserve to get what the rules dictate. Quite the opposite. Just giving my opinion.

Instead of the long winded defensive response, I'd have went with something like... I just got out of the hospital and I'll talk to you shortly about squaring up on our trade.

    Short term problem solved.

Be kind and communicate often. OP handled this respectfully and patiently IMO.

Exactly. I've had much less serious issues solved with communication. People are generally awesome if you let them be.

Mental. No bad trader thread for weeks and then one comes up involving two hitters. Haven't let out an involuntary gasp like that since that bad trader thread.

@JayORear - I think you handled things like an absolute gent.

Very sorry to hear that @TheIPAHunter is ill, and I hope he's recovering ok. But if you're physically able to send a BM berating someone (and/or posting in WBAYDN), then you're capable of saying "really sorry for the radio silence man, had some major health issues" and then working out a gameplan (which could be as simple as asking for a venmo/paypal handle so your gf can send the $ back for the beer - something I'm sure most people would accept in a case of serious illness)

And yeah I agree with you @Beer_Economicus - I reckon it probably all got too much for the guy and he lashed out. In the case of seriously shit life situations, it's totally easy to feel sorry for yourself and act out in a way that's (probably/hopefully) out of character. But whether directly or via a close family member, 99% of us deal with bad shit at some point or other.

I obviously can't speak for someone else but I have to believe that if you're in such bad health that you can't even respond to someone, you're probably too sick to drink all those beers. Just sayin...

Sorry you're going through this man.
