Today I take the dog to the vet for a pre-travel exam, then to the groomer for a "beauty treatment."

[IMG] Vacation starts tomorrow, how about a IPA dry hopped with Topaz and Citra to start this beautiful Thursday? Cheers Doc @lordofthewiens to you and Jill’s new adventure.

Today is one of those very very rare "middle of the week" days that I've not got to be at work. (Too complicated to go into here.)

To celebrate I'm starting the day off with a Luau Krunkles from Terrapin. This is a IPA with lots of fruit flavors. There's tropical fruit, some orange and orange zest riding on a noticable but not cloying malt backbone and with a finish that is nicely dry, spicy, fruity and bitter.

I slept in this morning...coffee time:

It’s already 82.2 degrees and 72% humidity on the back patio, fairly normal hot sunny day here in the low country. Cheers from Summerville SC!

I am drinking Serrata a Saison from Jester King, Austin, TX, brewed with red Shiso, a Japanes spice, ABV 5.60%. It is difficult to place the taste and the fairly aggressive aroma, grassy, floral, cinnamon, tart-lemony, maybe a little bit of licorice, definitely great with sushi. The spice is a little bit much but I still like it, it's nice, but I think I would like it better in soup or on sashimi.

I found out on my tour that this is the beer Ken Grossman homebrewed for his wedding reception. It is also the first beer produced by Sierra Nevada once they put together their first production brewery. They dumped the first 10 batches because Ken didn't believe it was consistent enough to sell. Some of my local brewers should take a note. Cheers all!

Brilliant cherry apple color with pinkish cap and lace.

Aroma bursting with ripe apple, cherry and cranberry.

Flavor is a combination of the scents writ large. Apple provides the body, cherry the richness and cranberry the tartness with both apple and cherry adding sweetness. All well knit together and beautifully balanced.

    Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

Altogether a Goldilocks beer that's just right. I do get an airy citrus, almost lemony presence that I suspect is the underlying beer and I don't know if there are other berry/fruits in the mix but if there are the add to rather than detract from the whole.

I worked on a pretty nice commercial shoot for the past couple of days in Bear Mountain State Park - the 'higher-ups' couldn't find a suitable log in the forest for this shot - so we brought one in - hundreds of pounds of log to be humped into the woods - it looked like a telephone pole before I dressed it out with moss and stuff - the leaves below are covering crash pads in case this kid fell - he didn't - it had to be cut up and taken out when we were done - Show Biz !! - maybe on the next job I can bring sand to the beach -

Another gorgeous day here in Freiburg. Getting hot again after a few days of mid-70's. Trying this for the first time. I'm a sucker for big BA barley wines, and this clocks in at 14.5% ABV. This is an Italian (Brew Fist) barley wine fermented with saison yeast and aged for one year in marsala wine barrels. Cheers!

I am very happy that this beer is in 6-packs! I only had it once, 3 years ago. This beer is delicious!
