    Good morning, BAs! I know this is an early start on the east coast, but today is a special occasion ... and as my body still thinks it is 4 pm (vice 6 am), it’s not too early for me!

    Today, in fact just a couple of hours ago, I returned from my very last “sandwich delivery.” My very last one in my entire career. I can’t explain to you what that feels like, but after five months away from home, trust me: it feels good.

    I have already visited the bass, guitar, my car, and of course, the piano. And now, I’m going to crack a special beer to celebrate this occasion, and this morning.

    My first good beer in ages. Nothing like some coffee to start your day right.

    Wife is shopping, so I popped into a pub - Greene King’s “IPA” 3.6%, from Suffolk, UK:



    This morning we visited the Grand Hall, all that remains of the Castle and grounds originally built in 1066. Believed by some to be a replica of the original, rumored to have been constructed 1290 (carbon dated to 1250-80) - King Arthur’s Round Table:



    King Henry VIII had it painted, and it has hung in the Great Hall ever since. Eighteen feet in diameter, note the white Tudor Rose in the center.

    I reviewed the third of my four pack having drank this beer many times in the past. After entering my review, I always scroll through the latest 50 reviews just to see what others have to say. My observation for this morning is that WBAYDN regulars rate this beer 10-20% higher than the average. I would also fall in that range. Cheers all!

    Still hot out, just going with the flow . . .

    Pours a light golden color with great white cap and lacing.

    Aroma of mild sweet malt and floral hops.

    Flavor is more like a standard Helles than a Pils which is to say rich bready malt, albeit a bit mild, complemented by spicy, floral hops. Taste is malt forward but the hops provide a solid backbone that lingers then asserts a bit in the finish and aftertaste. Not a large number of flavors but complex and very well woven together. This beer has style.

    Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

    I was right, when checking the website the brewer calls this "A golden Munich Helles. Crisp and refreshing" to which I fully agree. A long step past ordinary and equally at home with food or company, or both.

    Mornin’ BA. We got to Chicago yesterday afternoon. Got up today, and realized I can’t find any coffee in the hotel room. This is the next (or arguably better) thing.
