Good morning fellow BAs. Have a nice Thursday everyone...
Good morning, BAs! I know this is an early start on the east coast, but today is a special occasion ... and as my body still thinks it is 4 pm (vice 6 am), it’s not too early for me!
Today, in fact just a couple of hours ago, I returned from my very last “sandwich delivery.” My very last one in my entire career. I can’t explain to you what that feels like, but after five months away from home, trust me: it feels good.
I have already visited the bass, guitar, my car, and of course, the piano. And now, I’m going to crack a special beer to celebrate this occasion, and this morning.
My first good beer in ages. Nothing like some coffee to start your day right.
Cheers BAs - it’s good to be back!
Stopped after a morning walk in a bar for a Grimbergen on tap, and while I was at it decided for lunch - burger fries...
Thank you for your service and welcome back! It's good to see the piano again.
Golf with the class of 1993. Cheers
Wife is shopping, so I popped into a pub - Greene King’s “IPA” 3.6%, from Suffolk, UK:
This morning we visited the Grand Hall, all that remains of the Castle and grounds originally built in 1066. Believed by some to be a replica of the original, rumored to have been constructed 1290 (carbon dated to 1250-80) - King Arthur’s Round Table:
King Henry VIII had it painted, and it has hung in the Great Hall ever since. Eighteen feet in diameter, note the white Tudor Rose in the center.
Cheers from Winchester, UK!
My last cigar city beer from a trade like 4 years ago. Still tastes fantastic.
Good morning BA
Drinking this one this morning...
I reviewed the third of my four pack having drank this beer many times in the past. After entering my review, I always scroll through the latest 50 reviews just to see what others have to say. My observation for this morning is that WBAYDN regulars rate this beer 10-20% higher than the average. I would also fall in that range. Cheers all!
Still hot out, just going with the flow . . .
Pours a light golden color with great white cap and lacing.
Aroma of mild sweet malt and floral hops.
Flavor is more like a standard Helles than a Pils which is to say rich bready malt, albeit a bit mild, complemented by spicy, floral hops. Taste is malt forward but the hops provide a solid backbone that lingers then asserts a bit in the finish and aftertaste. Not a large number of flavors but complex and very well woven together. This beer has style.
Medium texture with balancing carbonation.
I was right, when checking the website the brewer calls this "A golden Munich Helles. Crisp and refreshing" to which I fully agree. A long step past ordinary and equally at home with food or company, or both.
Stay safe down there Bro
Mornin’ BA. We got to Chicago yesterday afternoon. Got up today, and realized I can’t find any coffee in the hotel room. This is the next (or arguably better) thing.
This meme fits how I feel after coming in clutch
Double Sour Cherry Organic Berliner from Mikkeller.
Some cheesy music to pair with that
Welcome back and congratulations!!!!
Late lunch, back at the French restaurant with a French euro lager and whitebait (kinda like lightly fried sardines):
After 5 here in Paris, out all day so time for some drinks!
Westmalle - around 2€ in most Carrefour City. A good deal.
I paid 3 euro at a wine shop, I will buy at Carrefour tomorrow!, thanks for the heads up.
Ah. You could be able to find Sierra Nevada or Lagunitas, possibly some Goose Island IPA there too - but not as fresh though... you’re welcome.
A typical Thursday morning for me. Enjoying a new Tap Room beer from Upslope and listening to a vinyl release from John Zorn (same cover as his 'O'o' CD although a different tuneage offering...
A nice pale ale packed with gentle mild grain flavors and a crisp, delicately biting hop snap. The only down side is a rather anemic carbonation and head offering, but the aroma and flavor are top-notch.
...and a nice tune (with Marc Ribot on guitar) featured on both the 'The Dreamers' vinyl release and the 'O'o' CD...
Good to see you back!
Just hanging around the house today
Damn sure just got a team eagle from 60 yards.
Stone - 22nd Anniversary Anni-Matter DIPA.. cheers!
Following up from earlier this morning, having another rather large pour of KBS.
Hopefully this shows better sizing.
It's not drinking as smoothly as I'd like, but it's still a welcome change. My palate is probably shot anyway right now. I look forward to getting right for the weekend.
Thanks for the warm welcome back, Dave @DoctorZombies , @lordofthewiens , @Prager62 , @Dragginballs76 , and Corey @WesMantooth (from the BIF thread). I don't need any of the cliche thank yous - everyone does a job worth appreciating, and I'm just a sandwich delivery guy, after all - but I really do appreciate the welcome. I've missed all you guys.
Man I really fell in love with this album over the last 5 months.
I may as well get on the Okto bus, this one's from Ghost River Brewing in Memphis . . .
Light clear gold color with white cap and step lacing as the glass is drained.
Aroma is primarily sweet malt, a bit caramely, with spicy floral hops in the background.
Taste is rich malt forward with the lightly sweet malt backed up by slightly roasted munich malt which gives it a bit of a toasty roasty taste. Hops hang in the background until the finish where they put a snap closure on the aftertaste. Malt comes right up to the edge of over richness when pulled up short by the hops which hold a firm grasp on the leash to the end.
Texture is fuller than medium but it's a restrained weight.
Overall this is a good effort deserving a B grade. It doesn't really do more than what the other B grade Oktoberfests do but it's worth at least a try or two.
Welcome back! (Time for a bit of piano music.)
Bell’s Best Brown Ale. Cheers!
Moscow mule flavored sour. Massive ginger and lime. Really refreshing!

All I can say is “wow!”
One more before running some errands and doing a mail drop...
Craved a little punch in the mouth refreshment while working in the yard...
I won't buy American ipa's there, but next may be chimay's.
