Still tasting fantastic. Aromas and flavors of huge mango, melon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, guava, berry, grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, and pine hops; with moderate honey and spicy rye bread malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hops earthiness. Good sized pine, citrus rind, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium-plus bodied with balanced bready/grainy malts and sticky/resin/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing resin/rind dryness, minimal hop astringency. Very mildly warming ABV, dangerously smooth. Insane dankness across the board. This is basically just imperial Born Yesterday IMO, very similar if not the same hops. Ekuanot, Galaxy, Simcoe, and Mosaic was the first batch, probably similar here. This has all of the same dankness at a much higher ABV, while remaining well attenuated and not overly sweet for over 11.3%. Mosaic and Ekuanot are my favorite hops.

Mind blowing as usual. Aromas and flavors of huge nutty dark roasted coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, marshmallow, fudge, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and dark bread; with lighter notes of smoke, char, molasses, raisin, and cherries. Light roast/char bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and very full bodied; with a very creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel. Some chalky roast and oak tannins. Lightly increasing bitter/char and tannic oak dryness. Never acrid or astringent. Insanely smooth, mildly increasing warming 16%, zero barrel booze. This one entered my top 15 when I reviewed it. Perfect barrel integration, with balanced fruity/nutty coffee and rich malt complexity. I find it interesting how they retired Mephistopheles, yet they still need to brew that beer in order to create this one. I can't complain though, will keep this around a lot as with Uncle Jacobs. Definitely the best coffee stout I've ever had.

    This band never gets old.

Fantastic pumpkin ale as usual this year. Glad for the cans now. Aromas and flavors of big caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, gingerbread, clove, biscuit, bourbon, toasted oak, and herbal/spice earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spice bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; balanced creamy/bready malts, sticky spice, and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing spicy/tannic dryness. No astringency. Very smooth sipping. Minimal warming 9%, no barrel booze. Perfectly balanced malts, pumpkin, spices, and barrel integration. Feels a tad thinner than I remember in previous years, but no complaints otherwise. Will always buy their BBA 4 packs now.

Omnipollo Zodiak Multiverse NEDIPA. This was fantastic! Aromas and flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, orange juice, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, gooseberry, citrus peel/zest, and light pepper/pine hops; with moderate wheat, biscuit dough, light honeyed malt sweetness; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Very mild pine, zesty, herbal, floral, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; very creamy/silky/bready/grainy malts and light sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness. No hop astringency. Amazingly smooth/soft finish, minimal warming 8%. Assuming this is just imperial Zodiak. Simcoe, Citra, Centennial hops. Insanely juicy and lightly dank/earthy hop complexity; perfect wheat/oat/malt backbone, not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. Stellar stuff for the style, would get another pack for sure. Should revisit the base beer again.

Good morning, BAs! Kicking off my morning with a new-to-me-brew that I picked up yesterday: Aardwolf's brandy barrel aged Tio de Nadal, an imperial stout conditioned on chocolate and vanilla, and then aged in brandy barrels (duh).

    Right now, listening to DT:

But preparing to see these guys later today:

@GreenBayBA @superspak I know Ian is familiar with Ne Obliviscaris. To me, they're the closest thing to doing for progressive metal today what Opeth did in the late '90s and 2000s. The show is a bit of a trip, so I don't know if I'm going to have the energy to make it down there, but I hope so.

This is an outstanding beer! Thank you, @superspak! Here is another band that never gets old! Speaking of which, here is my friend, jamming before we went to the Metallica concert two weeks ago, on Ihsahn's actual used guitar. He got it after Emperor came to the United States for a tour.

YES. The 2017 album is in my top 5 for last year, but I think Citadel is their best. I have discovered a ton of Prog death metal bands in the last year thanks to Spotify. Also loved the new Dark Tranquillity album a lot, one of their best. Check out In Vain if you have never heard them. Top favorite new discovery this year, but there are plenty others. Goosebumps for days.

I just picked up Atoma (finally; I've heard it a ton) and Citadel. Although a couple of the tracks from Portal of I get more attention, Urn absolutely blew me away from the get-go. So damn good.

Probably no new bands to me that you don't already know; Allegeaon is one of my crushes right now, and they've got a new album coming out. Less prog/melo and more technical for the most part, but really damn impressive.

Allegaeon has been a favorite for years. 8 string guitars! Their skill is some of the best out there. Consistently amazing.

Deep, rich amber gold color with white cap and lacing.

Aroma of caramel malt dusted with spicy hops. That doesn't sound like much but malt is strong in this one.

Flavor is malt forward with great depth and complexity. It isn't just malt, it's malt personified with a wieldy room filling presence. I quite like it and this may be my eventual choice over those that preceded it. Sweetness is present yet in a restrained way that complements the flavor profile rather than being a defining influence. Hops are there like Rococo flourishes on the edge of a large gilded frame which is to say they're noticed but don't really draw attention away from the main picture.
