I'm still wondering why a 30 minute drive is a hardship?

Only problem is the Bud... sh!t is usually the stuff that gets "priority" refrigeration

Be that as it may, perhaps other brewing companies have something to learn from them? Here's a picture of a "limited release" from the Swedish monopoly. The snowglobe effect is in full swing for a brand "new" beer, not even the people at the monopoly could get a fresh enough bottle to photograph where there isn't chunks floating in the bottle. This isn't a problem for large volume domestic brands I reckon, but for imports their ridicilous best before dates are a definite problem. And if they would take a page from AB's book on product freshness, maybe it would be for the better?

Ten minutes from my door we have a wide enough variety to keep a reasonable person satisfied. Me being me though I will cheerfully drive 2-3 hours to a major metro area to stock up on stuff that isn't available locally.

Apparently many bottles of that beer look like that even when fresh and it is a desired quality by some, according to posts in the thread:

I see. I guess I didn't expect to see such chunks in a beer which isn't explicitly sold as a NEIPA or the likes. Instead it reminded me of the many different brands of craft beer which sit on the shelves of my local monopoly store and that go from being (seemingly at least) crystal clear to having a buildup of chunks over time. I have to admit to being out of the loop on this one.

Yeah, before bottle-conditioned beers became common in the US, it was another way to judge whether a bottled beer was too old to buy when one couldn't find or figure out the brewer's date code. Pull out a bottle, invert it and if a heavy "snow globe" effect appeared, pass on it.

"Oh, that's just the yeast..." a store clerk might occasionally remark if they noticed your inspection.

"(Yeah, 'cause there's live yeast in a bottle of beer from a brewery that heavily filters and then pasteurizes their packaged beers...)" I'd think to myself, as I smiled said, "Oh, yeah?" and then bought something else.

This chart is why I store my homebrew kegs super cold now.

If you mean "worth" as economical it's hard to say. The extra gas money could negate any savings. I prefer to buy often from local stores, this works for me as I find if I stock up I'm not as picky as when I'm buying for the immediate future.
If beer ever goes bad in your fridge, and it's working properly, you need to drink more. Cheers.

Ask your local shop owner if they will give you a bulk discount? Buy beer with friends for bigger bulk orders....

I keep everything cool that I'm storing, my fridge is set to 50 degrees. Hoppy beers I pop into the freezer for 10 minutes because I like them colder and Stouts are good to go just sit and let warm. I live in a townhouse, so I have a humid garage not a cool cellar,

If I lived 10-40 minutes from 3 Floyds I probably wouldn't bother keeping much beer at home, and wouldn't be home much!

Living in Seattle, I have an incredible choice of excellent local breweries to purchase from so I rarely buy more than a 4 or 6 pack at a time. Except, this weekend was Fremont's BBA Dark Star release and I'm stocking up because it's my favorite ale, and it ages very well. IMO, better than Goose Island Bourbon County or Founders KBS and CBS.
