I feel bad calling people out and like seeing new participants, but he was in the BIF thread asking how he could get in and if he could post beers not from Sunday on NBS a few people gently said that it should be something new on Sunday but without enforcement or being stern about it the best you can do is just not like his post. All that to say, I think he's posting for beer rather than for likes, per say. I feel like each letter is more important than the last in the thread acronym, but maybe that's just me.

Excuse me? I don't know exactly what your issue is but I generally don't drink on Sundays. I actually went to the NBS BIF thread and specifically asked if new beers had to be drank on Sunday. I was told they don't and many people drink beers on different days and don't post them until Sunday. To be clear, both the beers I reviewed were new to me even though I didn't drink them on Sunday. As far as me "doing this all the time" I have literally only done two NBS reviews.

Here is a link to the post original post in question:

    and here is the response
    https://www.beeradvocate.com/commun...topus-nbs-bif-8.586935/page-139#post-6244986\

If you think I am doing this to get likes on here you are simply incorrect and obviously don't know me. I am doing this to review beers and share my thoughts. I don't care about internet points I care about sharing my opinions about new beers with the NBS BIF crew who are some of the coolest people on the internet.

So once again to reiterate, even though I did not drink these beers on Sunday I drank them a couple days before Sunday and took notes and made reviews prior to posting them in the NBS thread on Sunday. If that offends you for some reason I'm not sure what to say. I never claimed to drink these beers on Sunday. I don't understand why you are so offended I drank the Prairie beer last night and not today. What difference does it make, seriously?

Next time you stalk my post history be a little more thorough and you may get the full story. Maybe drink a beer and calm down as well.

No, not really. What he does completely defeats the purpose of this thread. It's called lying/cheating.

Good morning NBS and @lordofthewiens , we are also a Calvin and Hobbs household, both our sons have entire shelves of the books, and they are page worn delights we still refer to when we need some sanity. Thanks for the intro, today's offering is from Allagash, I finally have the pleasure of Coolship Resurgam to enjoy.
The offering is lush and full, bone dry, and layered in complexity. What a treasure.
    Cheers all

Poured from a dated 8/21/2017 into the test glass
A - A slightly hazy straw color, conceals lazy carbonation. a thin ring of white resides along the glasses perimeter throughout the experience.
S - Sharp start with the acidic side of lemon, funky wet straw, dry white wine, pith, and dusty dirt cellar (in a good way), back to zest of a lemon, and Loire valley wine.
T - After that aromatic introduction, the flavors are more mineral, less tropical fruit, certainly the zest of lemon, but less dominant than the nose. Nice grainy element, tart candied fruit, chalky white wine, and the slightest hint of sulfur, whit peach wraps this up.
M - Medium in body, tart and sweet in near perfect tension, ashen dry finish, with a lingering tangy orange candy Spectacular.
O - What a complex and delightful offering, The body, carbonation and acidity make this a real treat. The aromatics are out of this world. So glad that our favorite shop was able to get some this year. Worth every effort to find

Good morning New BSers! It's another cool day here in Texas with, hopefully, no rain until later this afternoon. @lordofthewiens, thanks for the start! Calvin and Hobbes was one of my favorite strips, right there with The Far Side, Dilbert, and the ancient Katzenjammer Kids, a fossil from my misspent childhood. When I was pursuing my MBA and after, I always said I learned more about management from Dilbert than any of my courses, which, as you can imagine (as a management/econ major), made me VERY popular with my profs. When I was semi-gainfully employed, Dilbert always gave me a heads-up on what new trend "senior management" was about to inflict upon us.

    Today's new beer:

$ 5.93 (Including tax and discount)/12 oz bottle ($ 0.49/oz) from Spec’s, DeZavala, San Antonio, TX. Reviewed 11/11/18.
Undated bottle. On the label it states “Please check our bottle codes & website for more information on barrels used.” Unfortunately, there is no code on the bottle. Stored at 42 degrees and served at 55 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter.
    Appearance – 3.75.
Body – Dark brown/black, opaque. When held to the light, still opaque.
Head – Small (Maximum 2.5 cm, aggressive center pour), light tan, dense, diminishing to a three mm ring and a complete thin layer with a rocky island.
    Lacing – None.
First pour – Brown, slight haze.
Aroma – 4 - Roasted malt, chocolate, vanillin.
Flavor – 4 - Begins with weak coconut followed by a hint of rum. Some roasted malt appears. No alcohol (11.6% ABV), no diacetyl, no dimethylsulfide.
Palate – 3 – Thin, watery, soft carbonation.
Impression and interpretation – 3.75 – An above average RIS for the price. Not one I will seek out.
    Rating 3.84, rDev -11.5%.

12 oz bottle poured into Tallgrass globe snifter.

Really deep dark silky black color with a beige head of 1 finger.

Aroma is huge. Deep charred malts, dark hot fudge, slight ash, milk chocolate, smooth oats, and shades of caramel and tobacco and fig.

Flavor is not unnecessarily harsh like the nose would suggest. It is of milk chocolate and char, but it's not overly ashy or bitter. Some piney hop bitterness in the background hanging heavy, with slight caramel, tobacco, and hints of fig. The more it warms up however the milk chocolate notes fade and the piney bitterness takes over.

Feel is creamy with a moderate carbonation and a ridiculously roasty feel throughout the whole profile. It ends dry as sandpaper with tons of roast and lingering resins.

Overall, a very deep sipper that is extremely dry and heavy with lots of roast and minimal sweetness (especially as it comes closer to room temp). Luckily the barrel aged version brings the sweetness that's missing from the original. Decent beer on a cold day or night.

I don't even know what that means, but this beer is damn good...
10/24/18 canning of this 8.3% abv double IPA featuring wildflower honey, Citra, Galaxy, and Vic Secret hops, and Thomas Fawcett Optic malt... Another murky gold, orange juice-looking brew, with a coupla fingers of clean white foam that trailed messy lacing all down the glass... Earthy and herbal citrus aromas with deeper tropical notes preview a almost dirty earthy fruit melange suggesting things like mango, papaya, orange, and lime... Rich body is full and lush, with a dank tanginess and a little bit of lingering aftertaste... Moderately sweet but equally bitter, a real nice beer, and for fans of the style...

Cheers, NBS - here's to new beer in your glass...

[IMG] Poured into a 16 Nordic pint glass canned on 9/13/18. Pours a very attractive cloudy orange yellow with a 2 plus finger head that leaves a big thick patchy wall of white lace. 4.25

Smell is apricot, mango, peach, a little hint of alcohol, and grapefruit rind. 4

Taste follows apricot, mango, and alcohol upfront, with a healthy dose of grapefruit in the long lingering finish. 4

Mouthfeel is a big medium, soft on the palate, a tad sticky from all the dry hopping, and at 8.8% I can definetly detect a little alcohol, but still goes down rather easy. 4

Overall this is a very solid NEDIPA that I am excited to be able to sip again. Sometimes your first impression can be misleading, many times I score too high the first go around, but this is a solid beer. 4

Totally agree with you. It's called NBS for a reason, but if somebody posts a brew from yesterday and doesn't clearly say it's from a previous day, the world doesn't stop turning. I think the implied day is Sunday, but if for whatever reason the review is from another day, then that should be stated with the review. New blood is important here and cutting some slack may be useful.

New Pale Ale Maybe? Sunday (Week 716)
Goood Morning all you ale adorers, cellar storers, lager leaders, and porter needers, Happy New Beer Sunday. Nice day here after rain, and even some *********s, and it has turned colder, but not abnormally so for this time of year.

Here is info. about this beer, Faith American Ale, produced with some sort of connection to the name Kelsey Grammer, although if I were him I would erase any reference.

    >>>"It's not a brewery license. Faith American Brewing Company LLC has a wholesale license in the name of Kayte Grammer, the actor's wife. The license took effect Aug. 7 and expires on July 31, 2019.

That sort of license could allow the company to have a separate brewery make the beer, with Faith American marketing it as a wholesaler. Faith American did have another brewery, Shmaltz Brewing in Clifton Park, Saratoga County, produce a test batch last year.

The SLA web site lists Faith American's business address at 344 Ruff Road in Margaretville, a little north of the village itself in the town of Middletown in Delaware County.

Meanwhile, under his given name, Allen Kelsey Grammer, the actor has a pending license for a "summer tavern wine" license for a business called Fabco Odyssey. The address listed for that license is 607 Ruff Road in Middletown."<<<

Well, apparently this batch is made at Schmaltz too, judging by the Clifton Park Address on can. Oh well, I was hoping they would brew at whatever facility they have in Margaretville (quite near to here), but still consider Clifton Park kinda local, more like localish, so that influenced my choice, as I'm a confirmed locavore. There is no date on the can, and I did not read any reviews before buying, very unlike me. Here goes.

It pours a clear dark gold with a finger of head that leaves so quickly I wonder if I imagined seeing it, and have to check the pic I took. Bare cap makes it look like cider. Bad look to say the least

Oh my, has a cider smell too. I had to do multiple sniffs with open mind so as not to be influenced by its look. Nope, cider is the main player in this med. strength aroma, with wet grass, light herbal bitter, and a strange lightly spicy malt or hop thing going on. It does not make me anxious for that first sip. As it warms an odd vegetal smell adds to the mess. Oh my...

Well folks, that's it. It's halfway through this glass and I just deleted the rest of the remarks I had made, and I am not gonna post my pic, and I am gonna turn this consumer review into a consumer alert. I know taste is subjective, I do, and gods bless 'em there might be folks who will like this, but this is a warning to stay away from Faith American Ale.

And recently I have discussed with folks why I use reviews to buy beer, and also had discussion regarding pkg. dates on pale ale type beers. Here are the reasons. Anytime you don't check reviews and buy a product with no date you risk this result. Since there is no date I have no idea if a problem with this beer is it is old. Even though it just arrived on shelf who knows when it was actually pkg.ed.

I hope you have a Great American Beer in your glass. I sure don't. Cheers!

Whoa, that's a pretty serious indictment. The poster in question made a nice contribution to this thread, with a beer I have in my fridge that I was contemplating for today as one of the beers I'd post on NBS this evening.

He helped me make my decision.

If you chose to, you could also make a contribution with a review of a new beer. This is a pretty welcoming little corner of BA.com.
