Merry Christmas Eve Ba ... Pleasantly surprised to have stumbled upon this bottle the other day. I can usually take it or leave it when it comes to Jackie O's but this is one I wanted to try. Got this in the glass, watching the Two Towers while my Wife and Daughter bake cookies. Cheers !

The beer actually isn’t that dark. Santa Skellington darkens all liquids.

    Merry Christmas, Again, BA!

Heading out in about an hour to meet up with about 30 of my Eye-talian relatives for a feast of fish and pasta.

    Kane Secret Mezzanine

Canned on 12/12 and released on 12/15

    Commercial Description:

7.4% IPA brewed with American Two Row, lots of wheat and a small amount of British Caramel Malt. Hopped in the whirlpool with Simcoe, Chinook and Mosaic then dry hopped with a bunch of Eureka, Chinook and Simcoe.

A comparative review with the Kane Digital Sea beer that I posted earlier.

Appearance: This beer pours an opaque golden amber color. It lacks some of the deep orange tones of the Digital Sea Kane IPA I just reviewed and therefore comes across as less murky to me. It is darker and looks less “juicy” than the Digital Sea. A rocky beige head that sticks around with a finger and leaves a lot of sticky lacing along my glass and I drink the beer. Minute, sporadic bubbles flowing up along side the glass.

Smell: My first impression of this beer is the more earthy hop aroma than the Digital Sea with notes of unsweetened iced tea and hints of green onion and garlic, perhaps the green side of Mosaic shining through. Lemon citrus and pith, with a prominent grassiness. Some cattiness. Hints of tropical fruit including mango and pineapple. The malt profile comes across as a bit more dark and spicy to me. As if there were rye, even though there’s not.

Taste: Sweet orange, and mango, lemony citrus pith, bitterness and dryness on the finish. Catty. Some pine and grass. Not getting any green onion Mosaic notes here that break through on the nose.

Mouthfeel: Soft carbonation. A touch sweeter than the Digital Sea, but a relatively dry beer. Bitterness also lingers but to a lesser extent.

Overall: Another nice IPA from Kane. These two beers present a great side by side. Pithy bitterness driven grapefruit on one hand and lemon on the other. Notes of tropical fruit in both, but definitely the back seat. Some more earthy and catty notes in this beer. Both defined by bitterness. A nice departure from your standard juice bombs. But, overall I do prefer this beer due to the earthy and catty hop notes not present in the Digital Sea.

Finished house cleaning for tomorrows intruders, relaxing with a Backwoods Bastard, and listening to BS and the E Street band Live in Barcelona. This FBB came without a front label for some reason. Bottled 9/28/17, I think these are better with a bit of age, barrel is more subdude. Merry Christamas everyone!

After a nice, little nap, a Gremlins viewing, and a re-doing of some of my Christmas lights thanks to 2 Nor’Easters in the past week, I’m having a pre-Celebration beer before we go to my sisters.

This is a collab between Sand City and Magnify and holy hell its delicious. So pungent, strong apricot, mango, orange scent and the taste is right there too. Very chewy for a DIPA. I’ll probably be back for a little nitecap so everyone enjoy their evening.

I remember the Woods even though it was on the other side of town. We had some alcohol induced fun there when we got older. Skeeching was the closest we got to skating, sledding or skiing!:open_mouth:

I have one Christmas Eve beer rule, and that's always have a Bourbon County of some kind.

Listened to this in the car on the way to the in-laws. An album I loved as a kid and still love as an adult.
