Looking forward to the Straight Jacket and Boss Ryeway releases on Friday, January 18th. Was able to snag these and good variants at the Brewery on the Saturday following the Friday release last year, not sure that strategy will work this year due to the well deserved hype of the previous 2018 Deep Woods releases.

Please leave the infants AND toddlers at home, guaranteed to be very cold in line for this release.

I must say, Revolution took a massive jump in my book in 2018. I was super impressed with their offerings last year, and they really jumped up my rankings of Chicago breweries. Hope for similar things in 2019!

Haven’t been to brewery but got a few cans of Death’s Tar and Cafe Death in SE MI. Have to say they are at/near the top of my list for big stouts. Hoping to see more this year!

I’m really hoping to see some straight jacket in Michigan. I had some on draft recently and was blown away.

Stop spreading lies about SJ. It's terrible and nobody likes barleywine anyways. Nothing to see here folks. Move along!

Can confirm: absolute crap. Definitely won't be watching this thread closely to see if it lasts until the day after release so I can go buy a bunch on Saturday.

Word is that it gets worse when they age it a second year.

To be clear from the above posts about SJ, it is not terrible in a Malort sort of awfulness, but perhaps even more damning, it is merely mediocre, as is the barleywine style. People need not even attend the release to get it and it will be at all the Binnys. It’s SO not rare that even these Michiganders are telling us about seeing it on shelves hundreds of miles away.

All the fruited and Nilla beer is gone so there’s no need to come clog the lines as it won’t have flip value. There’s not going to be one barrel aged stout released!

Honestly, with so much other good beer out there and with my budget so tapped from December, do you really want to blow more on a shelfie barleywine?

These other fine BAers are just trying to save everyone the trouble. And I couldn’t agree more!

I think you meant shelf turd barley wine.

    Shelf turds are the worst.

Barley wine? So it's more of a wine than a beer, right? Gross.

FWIW I've never had problems getting SJ in the past, even weeks after the release. Maybe things will be different this year, but I'm not too worried about lining up. I'm guessing production levels will be like DT.

I found cans of SJ at Binnys grand last year during the first week of April. Not sure when the 2018 release date was but take that fwiw

Yeah, SJ sees wide distro. Don't see any issues with acquiring that if you want it. If someone is going to the release simply to get SJ, save yourself the time, and don't bother. Lol.

Boss Ryeway is not the beer you're looking for.

Damn son, no limit on SJ? I'm not the type to buy by the case, but if I were, this would be the time.

I wonder if Ryeway will be able to be purchased by the end of that night/open on Sat.
