Can only admins do this? Searched forums, could not find a match. Occasionally notice well-trafficked places that are not on BA?

Nope, you can do it. Click on Places on the Main menu, then Add a Place.

Somebody has to add them, and lots of folks are lazy. As long as they are beer oriented, or maybe focused is a better word, you can add them.

Then they go into a Queue for Approval by the Site Editors - we are generally pretty good about approving appropriate Places in 24-48 hours though sometimes it takes a little longer when there is a large volume and/or holidays (since we are all volunteers and life sometimes takes precedence).

Also, once the place is added, you can submit a JPEG picture of the outside of the place, hopefully showing the sign and entrance so folks can easily find/recognize it. The image needs to be exactly 200x150 and 20.48 KB or less, which you attain by lowering the JPEG quality. Note that for beers or places you upload a picture instead of linking to one on an image hosting service as you would for forum postings such as NBS or WBAYDN.

Online services can help with the image manipulation, or you can use local PC software such as Photoshop (overkill), PhotoScape (free), or GIMP (free). Software for Macs, iPhones, and Android are available too. See additional requirements on the upload page regarding content of the picture and source.
