Good evening, all! Well, it's about time - on a couple of fronts. I'd been struggling with deteriorating night vision for quite a while, and I decided it was about time to address it. I went in yesterday for the first of two cataract surgeries, this one on the right eye. At my follow-up this morning, my distance vision in that eye tested at 20/20. I don't remember ever seeing with such clarity and color perception, and that's with only one eye corrected. I am scheduled to have the left eye done in two weeks, and I can't wait. My Coke-bottle glasses are already a thing of the past, and for that I am thankful. Now it's about time for a Hopslam. I don't care what anybody says. This is delicious, drinkable, well balanced, not boozy at all, and well worth the price of $19.99/six. I rated this at 5's across the board a few years ago, and every time I try it anew I am reminded of why.

There was an exceptionally pretty "sun dog" here this morning. This photo, taken with my phone in the parking lot of the ophthalmologist's office this morning, does not do it justice. You get the idea, anyway.

I am following the thread title to the letter, clicking the "Post Reply" button while simultaneously tipping this beer to my lips. IOW, I am drinking this beer RIGHT now.

Delicious pale ale as usual. Found some fresh singles again finally. Flavors of big red grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, apricot, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate caramel, toasted biscuit malt sweetness; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy bitterness on the finish. Medium-plus bodied; balanced sticky/resinous hops and creamy/bready malts in the mouthfeel; a touch slick. Light-moderate increasing resin dryness, never astringent. I love it. Will keep grabbing this when am in the mood for Centennial/Columbus hops and a heftier malt bill for the style. Pretty darn juicy and bright on hops; and very drinkable.

So you finally can tell it's not a hazy (NE) IPA?

Hope everything goes well two weeks from now. Cheers!

I've always given good ratings for appearance. Now I'm afraid I've set the bar a little too high. Everything looks REALLY good now. :yum:
    Thank you, sir!

Awesome English winter warmer. Big flavors of raisin, plum, fig, cherry, pear, apple, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toasted biscuit, roasted nuts, and light chocolate/coffee/roast maltiness; light-moderate herbal, floral, pepper, piney hops; and a bit of yeasty earthiness. Light-moderate piney/spicy bitterness on the finish. Very smooth finish with balanced bready creaminess and hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Just all around great complexity and balance of yeast, malt, and hop flavors. This ages amazingly, love it the most after at least 9 months to mellow the hop bitterness. Just passed that last May. English strong ales are underrated. Will make sure to cellar a nice lot this time around. We barely got any in 2017 in MI.

Wife comes home from work, and suddenly she’s in the kitchen and I smell bacon. She must have heard you guys. I don’t know what she’s doing but I’m not complaining.

Waiting on the couch, will report in.

And that’s REAL bacon @vabeerguy, no worries.

    Now, some ‘SLAM.

Thank you! It's about as hot as edible food gets.

For some reason I'm digging the shit I used to listen to as a much younger man. Lets keep it rolling maybe one more beer in me.

Fantastic DIPA. Aromas and flavors of huge red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/zest/rind, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate honey, toasted bread, light caramel malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; balanced creamy/bready malts and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing lingering resin/bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Minimal warming 10%. Aggressive yet smooth. Amazing Cascade, Centennial, Chinook, Amarillo, Galaxy, Citra profile. Awesome mix of vibrant, juicy, dank, and earthy hop complexity; with a great malt backbone. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. Just as amazing as when I first had it. Love all Revolution IPAs across the board, but this is one of the best ones. Will probably not be my only pack this year.

[IMG] Horus Season Six Osprey's Fresh Catch. This is the first IPA that has blown my mind since my first Tree House Julius. This is a seriously world class beer, and needs to be recognized as such. Please pick this up fresh if you can. This 01/10 batch is drinking superbly. Got about a 4.65/5 from me. Unbelievable stuff. Cheers.

Awesome stuff as usual. Glad they are canning it now, and dating them. Aromas and flavors of huge peanut butter and red grapes; with brown bread, toasted biscuit, light caramel malt balance; and some mild herbal/peppery noble hops. Light herbal/spicy hop bitterness and slight fruit tartness on the finish. Medium bodied; nice creamy, bready, grainy malt mouthfeel; some light sticky hops and chalky PB notes. Lightly increasing bitter/chalky dryness, no cloying/astringency. Refreshing as hell, and super flavorful for 5%. Perfectly balanced PB, fruit jam, and biscuity malt sweetness; with just enough earthy hops to balance. They really nailed the sandwich idea of this beer, even better than Odd Sides did with We Be Jammin years ago. More malt presence/body. Will get another pack as soon as I see fresh date codes.

I had that done 2 years ago , 1/4, & 1/11. What a difference. Fortunately , I had been able to drive west in the morning to work, & east in the evening. After the time change in November'15 , it was tough. I could see the car lights, and lines on the road, but with no lines, or in unfamiliar territory, it was difficult. I quit driving at night after a stressful adventure Christmas night. Headed to my brother's , I had to detour, as the police had a street blocked off for some incident. Had to keep getting out to look at street signs. I knew where I was, but never been that way at night. Kept missing my turn . Took me 1/2 hr to go the 3 miles from the detour. December '16 I had to walk, leave early , or get a ride at the end of the day. The night of my 2nd surgery, I went for a walk, & could see perfectly , no moon(clouds) , no streetlights . It was a joy. :sunglasses:
Hope you had your sunglasses on.:flushed::grimacing::grin:
& that they were Belgian wits.:grin:
The beers look better, & the people look 10 years older. (Including that odd guy in the mirror.)

Just arrived last Thursday. Good stuff, for a good cause. Cheers, BAs:beers:

    Didn't get here last night , so...….
That's another thing that happened after surgery : it created lot of work , going through photos, editing, or deleting a lot of them. Made me wish for some back, that I had deleted at the time.
