B1 is one of the best beers I’ve ever had period. If this is even in the same ballpark then it’s going to be a treat!

I’ll be at the Southern Grist Anniversary beer fest this weekend so hoping some of my local buddies come thru with the assist!

Any locals/regulars have any insight on the status of the buckwheat table beer that Cory teased going to bottles back in October? Really looking forward to trying that. Thanks.

 

I ran into the brewery the Saturday after Oude du Blé. I was in a big rush, and there was a line. I finally got to the register, and asked for 3 of the new blès. I’m sure I pronounced it wrong.

Anyways, just looked into the bag they gave me to put them away, and they’re the saison de bles. What the heck. I get that I should have checked my goods before I left the store (and the state), but if you have two things on the menu with the same unprouncable name, perhaps clarify with the customer? Especially if they ask for something that is close to what is being released that weekend?

Whatever. I’m sure I’ll enjoy the saisons. But I’ve been there three times now, and I’ve had bad experiences with the staff each time (too busy chatting to each other to take an order, can’t find inventory, bad info about what’s on at the other spot, etc).

I’m annoyed and I’m hoping that my post was whiny enough that you’re annoyed, too.

always good to check your box / bag before leaving. the fact that you were in a rush probably didn’t help. however, the OdB would have had white wax and the SdB would not. that would have been the big giveaway.

I haven’t heard anything recently, but am very excited for this beer. I find the more basic side project beers like this are the ones I get the most satisfaction from. If you want some bottles when it’s released hit me up

 

Good question - I’ll need to look at my credit card. My hands were full when I ran in (literally and figuratively), so I signed without looking. They also tossed the bottles in a bag for me, so I didn’t even look at them. I just remember making small-talk with the person I ordered from about how I was happy to be in town right when they released this. My fault for not catching it, but when you are buying a luxury good and paying luxury prices, I’d expect more from the staff.

Plenty of beer in the sea, as the saying goes - and who knows, maybe I’ll like this one more than Oude (oud? I don’t know. Isn’t this Missouri?).

 

Thanks, man. Agreed. I’ve been anticipating it since the post. Give me low abv nuance over a lot of stuff nowadays.

I certainly will. I’ll be at Hill in a few weeks so maybe, hopefully the timing works out.

It’s still listed togo on the Cellar website so I doubt it.

 

I left at 6 and there was over a half pallet left.
