Would anyone in the St. Louis area be able to do me a huge favor? I just got a new Yeti cooler and wanted to decorate it with stickers from all of the breweries I've been to. If anyone could pick up a Side Project sticker the next time they are at either location and mail it to me (simple envelope should work), that would be awesome and of course I would reimburse you cost and shipping. Unfortunately the stickers are not available on their online shop.

I have a drawer full of brewery stickers that usually go on my tackle boxes, and I might have a SP sticker in there. I'll check later and if I have one it's all yours

If you are going to the cellar and want to share, I'd strongly suggest doing that in the brewery parking lot. Maplewood has been cracking down on open containers as of late.

Lasting the day? Perhaps the week or nah? What's the scene like?

We were going to go to STL today but then saw the release and decided to wait maybe a week or two.

Very nice. Does this usually effect availability of current on-site bottles, or do they keep those available until they run out? i.e. Derivation 10.

Usually no change to the regular on-site. Also Tete b1 & v2015 on site as well this weekend to make me even more jealous:

They still have rules on how many in house bottles you can order? Nothing mentioned on the site--I'd probably want a total of 3 different bottles for variety between myself and the old lady, and whoever else is around wanting a pour...I'm not stingy. Just trying to gauge how many people I need to convince to come with me one of these weekends, and/or how many people I need to befriend at the Cellar.

Also, do people set up mini shares ahead of time (like hey I'll bring an AC bottle if you bring an Anabasis and we can crack them discreetly somewhere in or nearby...)?

I can't speak for the shares, but when I visited St. Louis in January by myself, I took down DBD, Anabasis b3 and D10 solo on 3 seperate nights along with some draft taster pours. I did DBD entirely myself, split a pour off for someone of Anabasis, and gave away 2 tasters of d10 to a few couples around me at the Cellar. I also ordered a pour of cask-strength whiskey for last call after I drank the D10.

Good way to meet people, make friends, etc, and they didn't seem bothered that I was taking this stuff down by myself, it's not like I was getting sloppy drunk. I'm not sure how much they'd let you order all at once though.

Every member of the staff I interacted with was absolutely wonderful, so as long as you're not a jackass I can't imagine having any issues. Also yourself a favor and get some dinner at Reed's American Table down the street, I had the most warm service there as well as great food.

I’ve only ever seen them have an explicit 1pp limit on the high ABV stout/barleywines.

Besides that when they have an expanded cellar list for special occasions it’ll typically be 1 bottle per person that you can order at a time to spread it around.

I don't think you'll have an issue ordering 3 bottles for 2 people. They have had 1 bottle per person limits on big stouts and other limited things but I don't think often.

As for shares, they allow them before a release on their parking lot at the brewery on Manchester. Now down the street at the cellar is a no-no. I don't think people congregate too early on a known non-release day. But i bet people get there an hour before open from time to time to share a bottle or two.

It's a blend of select Oude Fermier Barrels: one racked to neutral French Oak Barrels in September 2016, one racked to Chardonnay French Oak Barrels in October 2016 and one racked to White Burgundy French Oak Barrels in December 2016.

Moving on to some D10 and Maltvin soon

SP will let you crack bottles inside if you ask them first and share with them. On release days they will typically say no, but other times it's usually not a big deal.

Were there "people" in line with their infant or toddler children in this weather? That's when you truly have entered the seventh level of beer hell and abandon all hope.

My buddy said its sad that they have to take ids to keep people from trying to go back through line and score another bottle that is supposed to be 1pp. I don't think he understands that beer is all some people have in their lives lol

lol I just got home only to realize they released this to-go while I was still in town eating bfast and wasn't using my phone. Hilarious! Oh well, got to try it and that's all that matters, generous patrons at the Cellar sharing their pours for my pours.

Curious though, as the staff at the Cellar couldn't answer, why was this beer named Tete to begin with. Head of Blend? Blend Head? Top/Best/Highest Blend?

That's accepted SOP in Florida bruh!

It’s a term from the champagne world, from their blog post:

Tete de Cuvee is used more in the wine world. Literally meaning "head of the vatful", wineries will use it to indicate a special or finest quality blend. Then they charge more for it. Not speaking for him, but it appears that Cory's admiration of the wine world, as well as Belgian/French brewing has lead to the use of their terminology in his beer names.

Anyone know how much Maltvin, Derivation #10, and Tete cost for on site consumption? I was supposed to go with 2 friends and split the cost/bottles but they both can’t go now so I’ll be spending a lot. Lol.

Also which vintage of Tete is the best? Never had it.

$50 each. Older tete vintages are $5/$10 more depending on the vintage.
