This is going to be a stupid release, right? $23 is a lot too.

The line of chairs is either going to piss off a ton of businesses on 10th or neighbors on 50/51st. (Probably both)

I can also imagine there are gonna be a ton of OH line lifers trying to making it back to the city after OHs release. It’s gonna be a parking nightmare.

I thought the HVB raw wheat / milk sugar / fruit addition / pastry addition sour double ipa had reached its zenith? Is there really going to be an insane line for this?

The fact that cans have been lasting until mid afternoon hasn't stopped people from still dropping chairs the night before. I wonder if that will fly....

My take is that HBV is still pretty hyped but cans are basically inaccessible to many NYers without trading since its pretty hard to get there without a car. So I assume because As Is much easier to get to on public transportation, it will draw a crowd.

I am very curious about how the line for this release will turn out.
Will people leave chairs overnight? Will the Friday drunks from hells kitchen kick them away or will the local business owners take them? Is 10th Ave going to be triple parked? Stay tuned until 11am on Saturday

Not a perfect comparison by any means, but Death & Co was a shit show when Demiurge was for on-site consumption, and they only had that and that other beer available. As Is dropping cases and 10 taps is gonna be a certified mess.

As Is is super small too, I'm debating going if things aren't super duper insane cause its probably a 20 minute trip to As Is for me.

It's not hard at all to get to HVB without a car, really. It's a really easy Metro North trip

Its 2.5hrs one way for me, hard to justify committing to 5hrs of traveling just to buy some beer.

Ah right, as someone who lives within walking distance of Grand Central I forgot to factor in travel time to get on a Metro North train in the first place. It's basically 90 minutes each way for me, not terrible at all. Plus Beacon is a nice day trip anyway.

While I agree that Beacon is a lovely day trip, thats 3 hours of train time (not factoring in time to and from the train to brewery) I get why mules are so popular too, train tickets aren’t cheap either.

this exactly. id rather pay for a friend's breakfast to grab me beer than spend my entire day on the train or spend $100+ renting a car.

Not to mention the fact that a train (+taxi) is going to set you back a big chunk of that. I don’t know if this is an NY thing, or a northeast thing or an American thing - but coming from Europe I’ve never understood why over here we have to pay out the a$$ for trains with the comfort level/amenities/decor I’d associate with soviet era Russia

Because we don't subsidize those services. In fact, outside the NE corridor Amtrak loses money, so they back prices up in the NE where people will pay to make up for that. I could also delve into the evil of suburban sprawl and Robert Moses' influence but I think the mods would consider that rant off topic. That said, there's no beer I want bad enough to put in that time or money, like sitting out of As is all night or making the Hudson valley trip just for the beer. But that said a mule would beat that cost and commute.

If I recall correctly, the trains in Europe were pretty expensive, especially in the UK. Ended up being cheaper flying/taking buses places when I lived there.

That being said, the Metro North Hudson Line (which goes to Beacon) could very well be the nicest train ride I've ever taken. It's absolutely gorgeous, and the trains themselves, while old, have this certain comfiness to them that I love, especially for a commuter line.

I always recommend people take the train up to Beacon or Poughkeepsie if they live in the city. Definitely a hidden gem of sorts. Doing the trip just for HVB beer is a different story...
