Good afternoon and happy New Bohemian Sunday, BAs. Not a whole lot going on. Went to the Thorns game last night which is always a welcomed event for my daughter. Unfortunately, I came home with a bit of a stomach bug. Anyway, today is our neighborhood BBQ with some more psycho kiddo action on the waterslide bounce house. I'll be taking it easy on the sidelines with some hopefully enjoyable and refreshing new beers to accommodate the scorching temps. First off...

    Little Beast
    Czech-Style Pilsner

Beautiful beer, but not anything spectacular or game changing necessarily. The lightest bit of fog in the light yellow body, with a spongy looking white head on top. A flaked miss surface coverage with some spotty lacing is all that remains after only moments.

The aroma is exactly what you would expect; clean biscuity malts, a drop of wildflower honey, and a squeeze of pungent dried grassy hop juices... If that makes any sense.

Quite the pissy lager. The biscuit, honey, and grass are all there, but a bitter coriander seedy-like punch escalates after and between sips. A bit harsh, actually. Flaked corn comes to mind as well.

Clean and light body with a sharp carbonation. A punch of initial sweetness is quickly overcome by dry and bitter dominance. It's easy enough to take big swigs, but instigates a good amount of time between sips.

Well, to be perfectly honest, this is my least favorite from Little Beast thus far. Not a bad beer, just a little off for me. Hard thing here is I can't tell what I'd like different about it...

After my official review, I gave this Czech-Style Pilsner a rating of 3.63. Cheers!

Thrilled to try this CCB/OB offering; BAMBURANA. Lived up to my expectations! 4.5 Overall

Pours an effervescent mahogany with a 2+ fingers of mocha head. Nice lacing & average head retention

S: Dark rum, ginger, nose fades a touch down the stretch

T: Intense woody dryness, ginger, figs, a touch of rum up front. Dark rum, ginger, figs & dates as this warms, plus some serious woody dryness. Finishes dry with figgyness, dark rum & a touch of ginger

MF: Fairly chewy, firm carbonation that smooths out once warm, nice boozey warmth to it

Stellar take on the style, so happy I got to try this thanks to jkblr! So bloody drinkable for the ABV

    cheers @jkblr

Love the can format. So much easier to pull the trigger on a 4-pk than on a $20+ 750.

Greetings on a gorgeous summer evening in Northern Indiana, NBS friends. First, I’d like to raise my glass to the people of El Paso TX and Dayton OH. That I even have to raise my glass to these two magnificent cities saddens me - we all need to learn to support each other, respect each other, and hug each other.

So I start with a beer from a brewery that I love, but only from afar - until picked up distro here this week. I actually yelped when I saw this and three other offerings from Singlecut. This Kolsch is working well for me on a gorgeous summer evening.

Beautiful straw color with a significant white head, the nose features big fruity hop aromas, with lemongrass most prominent, and there’s some bready aromas as well.

The fruity hops flavors really dominate the taste, with that lovely lemongrass flavor most forward, and there’s room for the bready flavors, too. This is sorta Kolsch-like, and sorta session IPA-like, but it’s all a flavorful, crushable summer ale. Rated 4.02.

Good evening NBS and good for you @lordofthewiens for a great time with the grandkids.
We are just back from our annual event at HFB and was able to enjoy offerings from Greensboro, a great weekend with great brewers. Stopped on the way home and picked up today' offering. I sure hope that this style keeps being produced, a good red ale with a nice bite, is something I certainly appreciate.
    Cheers all

Poured from a 12 oz bottle dated 3/20/19 into the test glass
A - Dark cedar colored, excellent clarity, pillowy off white frothy cap. Nice lacing throughout the experience. Carbonation is lively and determined.
S - Roasty malts, some dark fruit, bready yeast in the nose as well. Some conifer hops, and earthy grains
T - Stays in a narrow lane, malt driven nice hop bite, leaning toward the pine side, yeast adds a fruity element in the best way
M - Thin in body, sweet start nicely balanced bitter wave, and then a really nice linger of piney goodness
O - A really nice red ale, malts are solid, hop bite is nice, and the yeast adds some fruity notes.

Progressive metal, doesn't have to be deathcore all the time lol. I usually listen to 70s Prog Rock and others at times too.

Urban Artifact Fire Iron. This was amazing! Opaquely hazy fruit color. Nice fluffy head retention/spotty soapy lacing. Aromas and flavors of huge juicy/tart/tangy pink guava, passion fruit, fruit skin/seeds, banana, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, papaya, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, berries, red/green apple, white grape/wine, hay, straw, and grass; with moderate wheat, white bread dough malts; light peppercorn, lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang, and light spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; very creamy/grainy wheat; some lactic acid, and fruit tang/tannins in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing acidic/tangy dryness; zero puckering sourness. Super smooth, soft, refreshing, mellowly lactic, minimal warming 7.7%. Amazing balance of super juicy/jammy fruit and Lacto complexity; with a nice sized wheat/malt backbone against acidity. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. Top tier quality kettle sour. Uses 1,500lbs of Pink Guava, 500lbs of Banana, and 400lbs of passion fruit per 30bbl batch. I am buying a 4 pack. 4.37

Solid yellow body; plenty of fine, rapid carbonation rising; thick and billowy head, soft and creamy white; dense sheets of foam coating the glass. Beautiful soft and spicy aroma; powdered sugar and mild citrus scents; faint orange and some pineapple. Very fine flavors; subtle and light cereal grain base; delicate citrus notes offset with some robust hop bitterness; juicy; orange and tangerine. Medium body; coarse and prickly on the palate; gently sweet yet bringing an overall dryness to the tongue.

This is an awesome Michigan brew. Exceptionally balanced with some fine nuance to the flavors and smell. An incredible beer.

This probably is a typical Sunday for me. No work. A variety of radio and musical treats. And plenty of beer.

And I certainly couldn't let @superspak be the only person to review and hype this beer. I find it interesting that, to date, his and mine reviews still rate below the lone rating-only score (which I don't what it is, but Ian and I certainly have reviewed this beer with some fairly high scores).

Anyway, a fine and refreshing take on a classic American IPA, offering the great looks of top-notch west coast IPAs as well as (what I would think) is the incredible fresh and juicy qualities of what top tier NEIPAs would be.

    Well, that's my opinion.

Damn good beer if you can get it...

Back for my second week in a row after a way too long layoff. Took a brief day and a half trip to Maine to see my bro and my nephew who I havent seen since the tragic passing of my youngest brother. Did some striper fishing on the Damariscotta River. Kid cought a couple, bro caught a couple but I got skunked- unusual for me. A good time was had by all though and definitely worth the 4 hr trip back and forth in two days. I always stop in Portland at Whole Foods because they have a fantastic selection of beers from not just ME but all over. And thats where I purchased todays brew which hails from Ohio. Peace to all that suffered through the latest tragedy.
Lets get to beer and some pics from the restaurant. I am lucky enough to have a fantastic smoker and I thought it was time for a little BBQ since its slow around these parts in the summer. 12 hour smoked pork butts and the finished product. Todays brew:
    Hoof Hearted Roller Blabe IPA
Pours a cloudy yellow with a snow white head that rises to a 3/4" inch and lasts a few leaving one ring and some spotty lacing.
Aroma is strong and dank. Lots of ripe peaches, good buds, overripe pineapple, mango, tangerine, grapefruit and some damp pine needles.
Taste follows with lots of stonefruit, tropical fruits and citrus. Theres a touch of sweetness but the bitter/ pine notes are just right to keep this from just being a juicyfruit bomb. Malt is is barely noticeable and most likely of the pilsner variety. A nice drink for sure. Its alcohol content is 8% and theres no sign.
Feel is fairly dry in the finish. Carb is small bubble in nature but lasts throughout keeping this from being a flat juice bomb. Nice bitterness and just the right amount of hop oils on the tongue.
Another winner from Hoof Hearted. Havent had anything I didnt like yet. In a sea of IPAs this stands out. Great beer if you have the opportunity.[IMG]

Thanks to @lordofthewiens for kicking things off. I have tried 16 new beers today as part of a bottle share with friends in Germany. I can't list them all here, but figured I would point out a few that were really good. First up is a rich dark ale from Thornbridge. This pours jet black with a nice tan head. The nose is full of charred wood, black licorice, raisins, coffee, and dark chocolate. The taste is dominated by licorice, but follows with chocolate, lactose, malts, slight bitterness, and honey. The mouthfeel is thick and creamy. Overall, this is amazing.

#2, from the guys that bring us the magnificent M-43, this is the first non-hop bomb I’ve had from them. It is worthy of your consideration, IMHO.

Pours a mahogany brown color with a substantial tan head, there are nutty and caramel aromas, but this beer is about the coffee (or espresso bean if you prefer).

The caramel is a nice touch on the nose, but it doesn’t serve as anything but a supporting role to the coffee, especially on the taste. This is literally main lining coffee.

And that’s more than okay, because the caramel and nutty flavors still contribute, I just wish the mouthfeel was more substantial in a beer this big and flavorful.

Sierra Nevada - Hop Solo - Crystal

Crystal was a hop variety I knew nothing about before this beer. Unfortunately, I read the description before drinking it and the flavor note of “woodsy” really sunk in to the point that that was all I got from it rather than coming up with something on my own. This beer seems to be a decent showcase for the hop, and was a perfectly enjoyable brew, but won’t necessarily rise to significantly more than that on a first impression.
