I think once your package has been delivered, it's much more onus on the other trader to stay in touch constantly and provide the usually lame excuse. Hope it's just that and nothing more serious.

I am getting to the party late, but here is my take:

    1. If I was in this situation, and the person appeared reputable, I would normally probably wait about 10 days before getting to the point of posting. That probably depends on how active they are on here. Also whether or not it shows READ on the messages. I am probably more patient than most - probably because I often tell my trading partners that I “intend to ship on X, but will ship no later than Y,” because my schedule is usually busy, making shipping on a particular day sometime difficult.
    2. Since you have already made this post, there’s very little reason not to press on. The thread has been started. Send them a PM, let her know you will name her in a BT post if she does not communicate and let you know what is up, since it appears she is acting as a BT.
    3. If you don’t have a cell or email, but you know their FB, reach out that way.
    4. Glad this is a smaller box, although FVM and EoC are nothing to sneeze about. Still, only 1 “bigger bottle” in a trade makes me hopeful that the size of the box is not enough to make someone do something dumb enough to get banned for. (On this note, with whiskey now being traded, I am dreading the post where someone ends up with a fake Pappy, someone steals a WLW, etc. etc.)
Wish the best for OP. If you need something from Ohio/Indiana, let me know.

Sorry about the lack of communication over the weekend. Had my family over the weekend and decided to put everything aside so I can spend time with them.

I actually received the package on Saturday after having to go to the PO to see if anything was there with my address/name.

What scared me was the lack of communication and seeing the trader on multiple different times after leaving my post on read. I may have reacted prematurely, but when a larger bottle is traded, tensions rise quickly. I can see to what @Beer_Economicus mentioned and worry about the state of trading and how BT will affect it. With bourbon being traded, it would be easier for someone to fake a bottle. I know I've seen articles where people lose out tons of money by buying fake/refilled bottles.

Thanks for the update, David. I was getting nervous without an update and almost called you a bad poster.

Glad you got your box. Did you ever hear from her in any way? Did you let her know you received it?

Guess I’ll just wait to see feedback to see who this other trader is.

This makes me grateful for sanity's sake that I don't see or know about the vast majority of amateur hour shit that goes on in other people's trades.

I wonder if she should be @ in this thread, just to give her side of the story. Because based on the facts @David55555 posted, she would be on my DNT.

For sure. Always good to hear both sides. Given the info David provided about communication, I wonder if we’d even hear from her, but always worth a shot.

Haven't been messaged back by her yet.... doesn't mean that won't change. At this point, wonder what the best solution is.

You got your beer pretty much when you should have, right? Very odd though never any communication. Maybe make note of it in feedback or just let it go.

To me, the answer here is pretty simple. She completed the trade, you got your beer pretty much around the time you should have, so she doesn’t warrant a bad trade thread (or at least not being called out by name in the thread).

However, That does not mean your experience was without concern. And that is why we have the trade feedback system. Good communication is part of a trade, and she did not do well in that department, so leave neutral feedback and note that the trade was fulfilled but that the communication was spotty. Add them to your DNT list if you want, but this transaction is over once you leave feedback.

One last item, not sure she left you feedback yet, but if not and you’re worried about getting retaliatory feedback, remember, if the moderator determines that retaliatory feedback was left, it’s an instant ban.

Agree with almost all of this, especially not being called out in this thread.

Its debatable on neutral feedback for me, I would make feedback good, but make note of spotty communication. Beer was delivered in tact, pretty much on time, communication was not what OP expected, but he got the beer, I think getting the beer on time doesn't warrant anything less than good feedback in spite of no communication on the shipping.

Yea, that would have to be up to the OP. I guess I just don't understand the point of leaving positive feedback and then noting a problem in the feedback. I think a lot of people see 100.0% and don't bother to read each feedback to see if there are any red flags. But like I said, its really whatever the OP or any person in that situation is comfortable with.

When packages are sent to me via Fedex or UPS, they automatically show up in each respective app, without me having to manually add the tracking number. Maybe the shipper assumed that this would be the case here, and so she didn't send along the tracking info. Not a great excuse, but perhaps part of the explanation.

There is no excuse for reading a message and not replying, especially when it's someone you're currently trading with.

Glad you got your beer OP and I don’t think you did anything wrong here... the thread is valid IMO especially if she’s not named now that the beer reached your porch anyway.

    Couple things:

    - Poor communication; if she actually read the message, a quick reply wasn’t too much to ask.

    - Neutral or good feedback is only up to you. I’d leave a « good » feedback, but I would be very hesitant to trade again with her because you were pretty much « ghosted on ».

    - Unless she’s dealing with something in her life(?) Would be nice you hear from her again so that you guys cheers each others at least? Anyhow it’s very rarely the case that a potential bad trader is having issues and usually is an outright excuse.

Well this is sorted for the better and this post:

Nicely sums it up too. Cheers.

This is pretty much word for word what I would have posted (forgot this thread was still open), and I think it's up to the OP to decide what sort of feedback to leave. Personally, I would probably leave good feedback with some additional information about the communication problems.

Having read through a number of these bad trader threads, I can't say the alleged BT's behavior is entirely unusual. People get busy, the trade transaction falls off their radar, and it gets pushed to the back burner. When they get a reminder or an inquiry from their trading partner, often times the reaction is one of embarrassment. The better course of action is to respond to the inquiry, apologize and tell your partner you'll get their box out the door pronto, but I have seen instances where instead the trading partner is too embarrassed to respond, and before anything else happens, they try to quickly make amends and get their box over to FedEx or the post office ASAP. That's a lot of speculation, but it fits the sort of fact pattern I've seen in some previous threads.

Bottom line... the OP got his box and so everyone has fulfilled their obligations (which is always the point of these BT threads). However, this almost certainly is someone I would not trade with again.

By the way and even though you got your beers, I’d like to read from @David55555 that he eventually heard back from the trader in question just so we know... so if @dmbforever or @John_M or other more experienced mods are fine with it, we can leave this open for a bit.

Of course. I'm curious as well.

Based on the way this has played out, my guess is he won't hear anything more from her, but you never know. Certainly no reason not to keep this open for another week or so to see if the OP ever hears back from her.

The thing is, this never was a bad trader. Bad communication, yes, bad trader no. The beer was pretty much on its way on time, of course the OP didn’t know this and there was the possibility it was on its way to being a bad trader.
