Howdy and Bonjour from Burgundy, France BAs.

In this land of wine (think; Nuits St Georges, Pommard and Chablis) I am again choosing local beer. A pretty good Amber one. I find both the glass and bottle quite elegant and well designed too:

Cheers and shout out to the great @superspak I didn’t reply in yesterday thread but do enjoy the surprise French haul I sent you

    Tivoli -- Slam Dunkel

    4.14/5 rDev 0%
    look: 4 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 4

Warm and dark garnet hued body; decent head, not too thick but lasting; spidery fingers of lacing stick to the glass. Inviting smell of warm brown bread crust; deeply toasted grains and a smidgen of roasted coffee. The taste also reverberates with rich and subtle toffee, charred sugar; barest touch of hop bitterness; a touch of alcohol. Medium-heavy body; velvety and warm on the palate; plenty of residual sugar; dull sweetness throughout; sticky.

TIvoli's 'Grand Slam' presents a wonderful dark lager. I'd consider it more of Munich Dunkel than a dunkle bock beer (if only for the relatively low ABV and more inline with the BJCP 2015 and current BA style description guidelines), but whatever the classification, there is no denying the incredible malty and rich flavors to be found within its liquid boundaries. Roasty, nutty, and very satisfying.
    ...........
...I got up fairly early this AM, rested, and listening to a duet of Great horned owls hooting back and forth through the pre-dawn hours. It doesn't get much better than that...

Please take a moment, in your own way, to remember those who died this day, 18 years ago today - yes, holy crap, 18 years ago.

Tonight's beer will be a salute in their honor. Especially those who died in Flight 93.

100% agree. Heroes and innocent victims all deserve to be remembered, but it's not in any way denigrating or disrespecting the rest of the victims to especially honor the heroic act of the passengers and crew of UA 93 - who themselves willingly sacrificed their lives, to ensure that even more would live.
