Water with lemon, no sweetener - helps cut the goo...and I like it enough to keep drinking it.

A pretty yucky day, although dry. Still calls for a serious beer; Mother's Mater Familias ( MILF rebranded I believe ) aged in Rye Barrels, 11.0% ABV. 3.58 over all; had much higher hopes

Pours a black as night with some 10.000 mile motor oil thickness. The carbonation produces a thin caramel colored that dissapates quickly. Zero head retention and lacing

S: Faint dark fruit, some barrel

T: Dark fruit, a little dark chocolate, Rye spicyness and dryness as well up front. Dark fruit, woody dryness & a little rye boozeyness as this warms. Finishes dry, woody with a little figgyness

MF: Medium body, dialed down carbonation, pretty warming

A solid variant, but nothing to get excited about, ABV is well hidden

Pale straw yellow body, nice and clear; extremely lively and coarse carbonation; initial excellent head, thick and somewhat fizzy yet lasting, subsequent pours leave a thin and bubbly, wispy head. Sour and barnyard funk aroma; citrus; lemon and lime; wheat. Sour, tangy flavor; tart lemon. Light body; coarse; tangy and acidic; mild sweetness.

This beer brings some nice, easy going sour and farmhouse flavors to the palate. The really low ABV actually enhances the appeal of this one. Perhaps, overall, the carbonation and citrus tanginess is slightly over-the-top, yet beer as a whole is a nice and refreshing change.

Hey, what a decent day for football. And I like the close games like Browns / Steelers, Chargers / Broncos. The mega blowouts just don't cut it, but then that's why god made radio and printed media to counteract such things.

Regardless, the turkey noodle and vegetable soup is done and seems to be palatable. I'm enjoying this current low ABV farmhouse from Missouri, and am lustfully eyeing the next one in the wings -- Firestone Walker 'Parabola' 2016..

    16 oz. can.
    Canned on 09/17/19.
Moderate pour yields a two inch white head over a fairly bright body with scant lacing while the head dissipates down to a ring in a few minutes. Nose of funk, bananas, and a bit of spice. Taste is a tad sweeter than the nose would portend, though quite tasty, refreshing, and finishing with a slight candied citrus. Nice feel and overall, I'd have again and recommend.
    Cheers!!

Happy Sunday NBS players. A pretty damn cold day here on the island. Caught our first real snow fall and then it just turned to shitty cold rain. Worked pretty much the whole day and have been working pretty much non-stop. The money is nice but I have had very little time for beer. @larryi86 I assure you more boxes are a coming. Anyway, I'm finally home and catching up on all the football action. Just a horrible performance for the Jets against a really bad bengals team. I understand the importance of coaching continuity but Gase just needs to go. How do you not get into the end-zone on a 0-10 team? Completely not prepared.

My new beer today is from another unfortunate Jets fan and the great ba known as @Lingenbrau and his NBS BIF boxes. This is Story Of The Ghost, a pale ale, from Block 15 brewing. The brew checks in at 8.75% and has a 10/3/19 canning date.

An unfiltered and pale off-yellow color, on the pour, with a nice fluffy white head of foam and excellent lacing. The nose is decently floral- hops, sweet fruit, and grass/grain. The drinking hits very hop forward with really nice tropical fruit notes. I'm getting notes of mango, grape, mixed-berries, peach, grapefruit, melon, and tangerine. Seems to sway a tad sweet at times but there is plenty of pale malt to balance it out and keep the drinking clean. A moderate mouth feel that drinks juicy and nicely dry. Have I fucking said dry yet? It's pretty well defined, throughout the drinking, but it really works well.

Overall, this is pretty nice stuff. There is a lot going on and every sip seems to bring notes of different flavors or fruit. I also think it's not categorized correctly. It's a modern pale ale and not an American ipa- Unless I'm just out of my mind. Gonna score it right around you Phil- in the low 4's but I would drink this a lot out there.

Love the bonus brewery review. Cheers!

I'm with Larry and you on this one, quite a tasty mixed beverage that fits in with the DFH beer and food mentality without being over the top. It came across a little more of a spiced cider with just allusions to the canvas of the cream ale.

Good evening NBS & thanks for the opening @cjgiant
My company policy is that you work the holidays that are on your schedule, so no less senior manager gets stuck with all of them. That put me working 12s Thanksgiving day through tomorrow. Luckily, I don't shop or stand in line for beer, so I'm not missing out on that. I'm thinking with all the other beers that have become shelf available, Bourbon County might actually be available Tuesday. If not, life goes on. Today's new beer
    [IMG]
    The review:
330mL bottle stamped Best before end 08-2020 poured into a Duvel glass at fridge temp 8% ABV. The beer pours mostly bright orange amber in color with off white head. The head recedes to a thin ring and puffy island leaving a Belgian lace behind to mark it's path. The aroma is coriander, lemon, lemon zest, pale malt and Belgian yeast. The taste is more pale malt, lemon and coriander before the yeast takes over with subdued clove and banana. Very low bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with just above average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, excellent. Beautifully combined flavors make this beer not too much of any one thing, yet wonderful as a whole.

I much prefer dark Belgian beers to their lighter styles. Trouble is, I'm running out of new dark beers, so I'm expanding my horizons. No regrets on this one. Makes me wish I could find the other Chouffe beers around here. Cheers all and enjoy the new beer in your glass tonight!

    P.S. Happy birthday to @zid

NBS x2 deserving a huge shout out and thanks to @thebeers . One look at this bottle and I could tell it's something special. If I'm hyping it up, so be it, but I'm guessing no, considering the source.

An elegant looking beer pouring a very inviting 24k gold. The clarity is excellent only enhanced by the stillness it possesses. Above, a bone white coarse bubbled foam forms and descends into nothing more than a fine ring with no lace. Again, very elegant looking.

Lovely aroma dominated by unique funk and luscious white grapes. Notes of pear and forgotten attic oak fight for attention with just a quick zest of lemon peel.

The flavor leans more towards an initial tart lemon. White grapes carry the center of the load with a mild melon counterpart, followed closely by a damp, woody finish.

As with the looks, this beer is elegant in feel. Lightly carbonated, crisp, and slightly tart, with a slick touch over the tongue. Wonderfully balanced and remarkably easy to drink as I quickly find my hand reaching for another pour.

If this is Form, count me in. Some beers you can tell are the real deal. This beer looks, feels, smells, and tastes like it was born on a farm, even if it might have been produced in an industrial back alley. Regardless of its origin which is unknown to me, it's the real deal.

After my official review, I gave Gestalt 9 a rating of 4.26 with an rDev of +1.9%. Cheers!

    12 oz. can.
    2018 vintage, filled 10-17-2018.
Moderate pour yields a one inch tan head over a near black body with scant lacing. Nose of dark malt, oak, caramel, vanilla, dark chocolate, dark fruit, and lots of bourbon. Taste mirrors nose somewhat with the the bourbon barrel's attributes (oak, caramel, vanilla, and booze) coming forward in such a good way. Being a bourbon drinker, this is what I look for in a BBA Stout and Revolution delivers. Nice feel for a 13 month old can and overall, a wonderful experience to be sure! Cheers to Revbrew for this gem!!!
