    Happy New Year, Everyone!

Thought I'd kickoff 2020 with a belated holiday gift. We initially launched extended beer and place stats exclusively for Society members, but now everyone has access. You can learn more here and here. In a nutshell, it provides more insight into the beer styles, states, and countries that you've rated.

But wait...there's more! This one is new today. When viewing your beer ratings, your average beer rating (updates daily) and distribution of your ratings are now displayed on the first page.

Find these updates useful? Please consider joining our Respect Beer Society to help support our continued efforts.

Cheers...and all the best in 2020!

    Todd

The average beer rating is a subjective figure based on your style of reviewing. More importantly a person who pursues whales and is working on the top 5,000 beers is going to have a higher than average, average. And if you like to try new breweries and drink new random beers you're likely to be spitting out more 2.75s and 3.25s. But if I click on another BA's beers, I can't see their average.

Just my first reaction, always like to see new features to try out!

    Love the bar chart!

Would love for a line to be overlaid representing the BA ratings for the same population of beers.

This would show how your bell curve compares to everyone else, at a high level

Correct. Like it was for Society members, you can only view your own extended stats.

3.88 for me. Seems I believe most beer is pretty okay-er than you do... :joy::wink:

    Outstanding. Thank you.

I assume beers round up or down depending on their number/what is closest to the 0.25.

Thanks, I am always overjoyed to see new statistics, and this is an interesting one. On the graph, I have a clear double mode at 3.75 and 4, and a total average of 3.98, which is 4.0 for all practical purposes. That's actually somewhat lower than I expected, but seems reasonable. I'm reviewing some top notch beers, so maybe I'm a bit lower in average ratings than I should be.

Great initiative. How many beers do you need to rate before you get an average beer rating?

With 539 you should be seeing it I would think. You're not? Are you looking at your reviewed/rated beers list?

An awesome gift to the community! Now I realize I need a beer from West Virginia *and* South Dakota. Plus my 3.84 average rating reinforces what I suspected regarding beer choices and opinions.

I initially populated it using the daily update script, which only updates recently active users, but I just forced an update for all users.

Yeah I some how still need beers from Wyoming, Montana, West Virginia, and the two Dakotas. I thought I'd checked off all states years ago.

So my average is 4.17, but I don't rate here much- and usually to promote really good local stuff.
