what happened to our precious vanilla rye unit that y’all loved so much? That’s essentially similar to “pricing”. I am not a fan of secondary pricing either but it’s much easier to assign a numerical value to determine the value then try to guess the value based on guessing the value of the things it traded for

trade value =/= sale value but most of the time they’re close enough.

Cost. Knowing them it’ll be on tavour in a month. Cigar city as well doesn’t have much value unless it’s a BA huna

Speaking of, after the most recent release (and reports of declining quality), I would say that VR is worth about .5VRU now (yes, this measurement is and was very dumb).

DB BCS should be the new VRU. All in favor....

It was done because at the time of the trade thread creation....it seemed as though straight cash value discussion was not welcomed. So it was only a tool for the time for those who wanted to use a valuation to help gage a trade. It was never a perfect system but that's fairly obvious.

I like it, but was thinking it should be something challenging and unwieldy like Cantillon Don Quixote.

For example: Beer “X” is trading at 0.0205 DQ units.

I don't think its grown in value. Coffee stouts are a weird one to age especially going this long. I know bourbon county is an outlier but I would imagine somewhere in the range of 0.25-0.5 VRU

wait, so is my Goose Island cellared Vanilla Rye equal to 1VRU? Or is it now .75 VRU? This is so confusing. I thought it was just a beer I should drink.

It can be both a beer you drink and equal to a VRU. Right now it's probably sitting at .5VRU or just a little above that.

I assumed it was. I was using "VRU" in the sense that it is used as a common denominator for trading beers. I hope that helps!

i know, my point was that we’ve been “quantifying” value with numbers for a while. Using dollars is just a less convoluted VRU

Back to the topic of trade values:

Would Floodland Nothing / All + Seekers be able to land a big boy beer like BBT3 or KBBS 2:1? My friends who are knowledgeable about Floodland told me it should close but haven’t had any luck.

In theory yes, but I don't think so. ToL B2 ISO Maman 19 has been posted a couple times to no avail.

yeah I’ve seen that as well. TCE has closed Maman 19 and hasn’t closed Seekers, so I believe Seekers in theory should be higher than TCE
