Online Tasting: Saison (April 3 & 4, 2020)

    You are invited to join the Beer Advocate community on April 3rd and 4th, 2020, for an online tasting of the complex and enigmatic Saison style.

    As you may or may not be aware, Allagash Brewing would have been hosting their Saison Day celebrations on April 4th around the country. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the events have been cancelled and Allagash is hosting an "Digital Saison Day" on April 3rd.     As for this thread, beginning on Friday April 3, 2020, join in here in this thread for an online tasting of saisons! Regardless if saisons are completely new to you, if you are trying a new-to-you brew, or if you are revisiting an old favorite, stop in at any point throughout the 3rd and the 4th and post what beer you're tasting along your thoughts/review of it. Your thoughts and reviews can be as detailed as you wish, but some comments on the beer are required. Posts accompanied by picture(s) are, as always, highly encouraged.

    Need a suggestion of a beer to get for this thread? Post here and we can suggest some ideas depending on the distribution in your region. And, if at all possible, try to support your local breweries when purchasing saisons for this tasting thread.

    I been drinking the fuck out some Funkwerks Saison these days..


    Never liked them before, but now I’m quite literally craving the style. Its really neat how the palate changes..

    I have some Tank 7 in the fridge, perfect. I would like to compare to a couple others but don’t think I will get the chance.

    I literally just had Funkwerks Saison delivered to the house. Now I just need to save some :wink:.

    Seeing that this is a two day event, I will try to pick up a few more offerings. Thank you for setting this event up, and I look forward to experiencing and being exposed to various Saisons over the weekend!

    Yea I know thats a change with what we've done in the past, but I wanted it to also coincide with what Allagash is doing, so I figured I'd start it on the 3rd and let it run through Saturday like we usually do.

    OK, as long as I can remember this event in a few days, I'm in. Got a couple of saison (bottles) in the fridge and now this can be an excuse to try em. Cheers! To everything it's saison!

    Love that first video, that guy is such a character and the Saison D'erpe-Mere is a wonderful example of the style which I may still be able to procure for this tasting, not sure yet.

    I had no idea that Matt Damon is working for Saison Dupont though!

    I definitely have to participate in this! Now if only I could figure out which bottle shops around here are still open and carry saisons...or maybe I can hit up Brewery Vivant...

    I've had 141 Saisons and there's not one in the house. That's just plain wrong. I'll check around and see what's available.

    So wee from Sweden can join.

    I will drink saison DuPont and maybe a few Swedish versions.

    Saison is one of my top three favorite styles.
