    That's the way my home bar has done it for years-it never fails except with those who are uninterested in being educated. And we'd rather they didn't come back anyway. Until they've grown up.

    If you say "All Lives Matter" in reference to the Black Lives Matter movement, your only goal is to delegitimize the movement itself. That's all it is. Thinking it means anything else is just ignorant and makes you part of the problem, not the solution.

    Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. Just thank you! This message, and some other things I've seen today (e.g. police officers in Spokane kneeling before the protesters, a la Colin Kaepernick), helps me think we are going to make it through this.

    I'm not going to lie, a bad scenario did cross through my head about this post as well but I know Todd's a chill guy and not going to go that route at the same time.

    Thanks for the message, Todd!

    I've seen things here on BA.com that suggest some posters may be strongly conservative/Republican or liberal/Democrat, and I've seen loads of posters who likely would love some libertarianism injected into their alcohol distribution system. But I don't think I've seen straight out racism, and I'm 100% sure such a thing would find no purchase here on BA.com. WBAYDN and NBS is all about love of beer, nothing less or more complicated. That stuff's universal.

    Be safe on the streets, BAs! And wash your hands!

    Is working to create more opportunities for everyone, regardless of race, to have life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness racist? That is, does anti racism require that we we work to create more opportunities for specific groups?

    All lives matter are words spoken by men (mostly white) who have benefited from the "privilege" of their skin tone. Let that sink in, brothers and sisters. All lives cannot matter until black lives matter. This is the situation at hand. When a firefighter responds to put out a house on fire, he doesn't spray down the entire neighborhood; he protects the house that is in danger. POC, and specifically, black people, are in danger. Wake up.

    This is my first post and I can only tell you what's in my heart. My heart broke when I saw the cop with his knee into the back of George Floyd's neck while he was in handcuffs face down in the street pleading for his life. I have absolutely no doubt he was murdered by those four police officers, three of whom were unwilling to stop the execution. My deepest hope is George Floyd's death becomes a tipping point and the beginning of the end of the scourge of racism in the United States. As a country we have passed legislation to end racism but racism and hatred are feelings that run deep and you can not legislate feelings. Each and every one of us must root out racism no matter if we find it at the corner store or if we see it at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

    I don't know you can do all of that in a fair, equitable way without acknowledging the ways one's identity affect their lived experience and ability to take advantage of said opportunities. Calling a race at the finish line is meaningless if the runners ran different races.

    I'm not sure I know what exactly you're asking, but I will respond by saying that I am for advantaging the disadvantaged even if it means that I, as an able-bodied, cisgender, straight, white man, might not benefit all those specific, though hypothetical, advantages.

    Bravo, Todd. Too many racists refuse to admit even to themselves that they're racists because too few of us of any color are anxious to confront the ugliness that dwells inside of us. It's always easier to talk about the ugliness inside the other guy.

    Well played.

    I cant say that I have ever seen any racism in my neck of the woods on BA, but like any vermin they tend to show up everywhere. Craft beer is for everyone, and so is justice.

    Unfortunately we still dont practice what everyone in this land should hold most dear: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness."

    Life, probably being the most important one at this moment.


    P.S.
    Also before anyone brings up the fact that the author of that declaration was a racist himself, we know...

    As someone who is automatically labeled as racist and homophobic by many, I love to go to my local tap rooms where I chat with gays and minorities as we sip local brews and enjoy life together the best way ever invented.
