Ladies/Gents.... my oldest daughter is thinking of a 5 night stay around Ithaca at the end of September. . Any good beer recommendations? Much obliged!!! Prosit!!
How far are you willing to travel from your home base in Ithaca? In town: Ithaca Beer has an excellent restaurant, but that’s all I’ll say about that. I like Liquid State Brewing for the excellent ownership/staff and good beers that taste like they should. You won’t get anything to wait on line over, but there are lots of good selections in MANY varieties. Finger Lakes Beverage has a great selection... or did pre-covid. Brewers Cafe usually has a great selection.
My favorites in the area: Prison City (an hour away) Other Half (80ish minutes) Mortalis (100 minutes maybe)
Even now I still forget about the Rochester FLX location. Was about to make a dad joke about you having a Ferrari and a police scanner
There are terrific breweries *literally* all over the Finger Lakes that existed years before OH or Mortalis did.
Do you.... do you... think the dude in my avatar is me? Time to get off the internet, grandpa, and go regale anyone that can stomach your presence with what a refined palate you have. I'm sure everyone is super impressed that you exclusively drink 8% hazebois, fruited berliners and St. Emilions from your climate-controlled walk-in cellar.
Are you the guy that when that brewery burned down a couple of years ago (I forget which), immediately speculated that it was probably an insurance job even though the posted article/thread clearly showed how devastated the owner/local BAs were? If no then apologies. If yes, then I guess with that level of empathy/tact, the above is no surprise. But if you want to criticise a particular area, why not mention some specifics to back it up and allow for a proper argument. Just sneering down your nose - unprompted - ain't really a good look. just makes you sound like a snobby ahole
Don’t mind him. He’s just an innocent 53 year old man who enjoys sitting in cars at Mortalis for 4 hours just for some beer.
These two threads reach a bit further afield of Ithaca. https://www.beeradvocate.com/commun...r-lakes-area-suggestions.633749/#post-6821580 https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/breweries-in-finger-lakes.615957/ I’ll 2nd @ColdOne regarding Liquid State and Finger Lakes Beverage, which are essentially next to one another. There is also Lucky Hare Brewing down the street. I have enjoyed a few of their beers, with a similar opinion to Liquid State.
By the way... Has anyone been to the new Ithaca Alehouse? The last reviews are 4-5 years and older. https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/15971/?view=ratings
Good memory. I do remember that prompt and deservedly deleted post. It was right after the fire at Common Roots in Glenn Falls. The man has no shame.
I'd be happy to drink an Ithaca CascaZilla no matter where I was, so getting it close to the source is even better. And there are few better dive bars than Chanticleer but I assume they are closed for the time being.
