All I know is that I've seen some great youtube reviews of the homebrew version and I can't wait to brew it. It'll definitely be a beer I've brewed with the highest amount of different grains for the grain bill. I also love the idea of using cascade in a stout at the end of the boil. I've been able to try one by the Trillium Collab and it was delicious!

The original Weathered Souls recipe and the homebrew version are both available through the Download the Recipe link on the Black is Beautiful website.

Looks tasty. I hope some show up around here. Have they all been straight from the brewery or have some seen distribution?

Just picked up a 4 pack from Iron Hill, I got 4 16oz four packs for $40. If the stout is good I will go grab 4 more packs......They sell their beer for $16-22 a four pack but run a special all the time of any 4 for $40

    Enjoy

Working on the Firestone version tonight,
Real nice but really expected more, especially reading it on paper! Ba parabola and ba merkin mixed in?? If only it was more present. Anyway it’s still tasty nonetheless

I’ll be moving to the veil next, where I’ll officially be out proper glassware from here on out lol.

The veil version, closest glass I’ve got is olde hickory lol.
Well man I had high hopes for this as I love veil stouts. Maybe this would be great in the barrel but right now this is almost undrinkable. So much caramel and maple it’s almost brown from all the adjuncts. Bitter coffee that really mellows when it warms. Definitly share this guy if you got it, a couple ounces is enough haha

Ive got my second Connecticut entrant for this Collaborative effort with Still Hill Brewery and their cans released this week.
Ive added the beer to BA and reviewed here: https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/40982/506142/

If anyone else tries this one, can you confirm the candied orange notes I get on the flavor profile?

I had this offering from Monkish tonight .....

    look: 4.5 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4 | overall: 4.25

This pours anthracite black with a dense, foamy dark tan head. Gorgeous beer. The nose is milk chocolate and some char, and stone fruit. Lots of stone fruit.

The milk chocolate is forward on the taste, and the char is present, but the stone fruit comes along mid-taste and lingers through the end. I love stone fruit flavors in big stouts, but if you don’t, this will be a bit of a challenge.

The mouthfeel is a little softer than I’d prefer to see in an imperial stout, but overall this is an excellent beer, especially if you like stone fruit in a big stout.

Great review! I’ve heard this one was polarizing, looks like you nailed the culprit .

Bell's posted a few days ago on social media that their version of this beer is bottled and will soon be available at the Eccentric Cafe/General Store and at Upper Hand Brewing. No mention of any other distro. More to come if I can get some.

    Drinking the Iron Hill version.

$10 4x16 as part of a four 4x16 online special.

    Canned 6 August
    10% ABV
    Imperial Stout

I had one last night as my last beer of the night and thought it was really pedestrian , thin and boring.I really did not enjoy it.

I am revisiting tonight after working all day. First and only beer today

More like a high abv porter than Imperial Stout. Dark chocolate smell and the taste is similar with a bitter finish and mild creamy texture. The first sip feels like a nice body but that goes away after a few sips and it feels thin. As it warms up it starts to smell like a brownie and the body comes back a bit. Hides the 10% really well.

I like the bitter finish. Overall this was a miss for me. To many other stouts out there that offer more in the taste field. I do like the fact that this is just a beer with no added cakes, toe nails or breakfast foods.

I will buy any other variations I come across.

Just relaxing to the sound of the bugs chirping away outside. Up and back at it in 7 hours.

    Enjoy

Bummer about the beer being a miss. But that price point is amazing for a 10% beer!

Had Perennials version last night, fantastic! 20% whiskey aged stout, I gotto say it come sour very well. This is what I was hoping from Firestone’s version, which slightly falls short of this guy.

if you can, check this one out!

The only one that was easy to get around here was Voodoo's. I'm not sure if they riffed much on the recipe, especially after reading some of y'all's reviews of Black is Beautiful from other places, but it's a very solid imperial stout that checks all the boxes for me. I kind of hope they keep making it, and also get a couple fire pits for the State College location so I can sit near one and drink it.

Tried the Trillium/White Lion imperial stout colab and LOVED it. Tonight tried the Aeronaut oatmeal stout version and quite liked it. I'll keep trying em as I find em!
