Lunch beer - Lone Pine’s “Brightside IPA”:



Deep gold, some clarity with some chill haze that clears up after a couple of minutes; fast dissipating white head; poor cap retention; thin ring; lots of streaming carbonation. Nose is berries, melon and tangerine. Light bitter citrus peel taste; melon, tangerine, lemon; firm caramel malt base. Clean light feel; medium light body; moderate carbonation; no warmth from 7% abv; no astringency. Overall, an easy drinking American style IPA; no bitterness in linger.

Deadass I got bored once and paid for tinder and just swiped right on every single one rapid fire until they forced me to stop. Out of the unrealistic number I swiped on about 8? I got to speak to and they were all fairly nice. Nothing worked out but. That’s tinder for you. Hahaha.

Transient Hello Barkness My Old Friend Imperial Stout aged in bourbon and maple bourbon barrels w/ vanilla, coffee, salted caramel, cocoa nibs, and maple syrup (2019 vintage). Transient kills the pastry stout game, especially when they throw them in barrels. It’s obviously sweet, but the barrel provides oak tannin, oak char, and bourbon spirit that, along with the coffee and dark chocolate, balance things out pretty well. Milk chocolate ganache, 70% dark chocolate, chocolate chip cookie, vanilla bean ice cream, concentrated vanilla bean, creme brûlée, caramel, roasted coffee, maple syrup, oak tannin and char, bourbon spirit, roasted malt, tobacco, light black cherry. As it warms, the vanilla really becomes pronounced and it turns into a vanilla bean bomb. Simply outstanding.

 

I was too lazy to pack a cooler, so I'm stuck with what the pool has to offer. One of these will be mine. One will be my lovely wife's.

 

Yea Tinder is definitely not for me, worst luck with that one so far.

Solid hazy from Leavenworth, one of our favorite small towns in Washington, especially during Christmas season. The Enchantments are only about 20 miles out of town, phenomenal mountaineering.

 

DDH Atlas by Cadence Brewing (a wholly owned subsidiary of Decadent Brewing) in Mamaroneck, NY. Six or so weeks in the can it has really blended/come together/mellowed. Apropos of this, you really forget what amazing performers they were:

Deschutes Lil' Squeezy Juicy Ale



I don't throw 4.5 + around much, conservative scoring by BA standards, but this is an oustanding pour, a rare 5 for taste, and this will be part of my regular rotation. Picked up due to Gary Fish's Q & A hosted here, will be trying more Deschutes beers in the future.
