Excessive tool usage generally leads to stud numbers.

It’s sports talk for big numbers, I don’t have a written example. I’ve heard it used in the context of, Lebron (insert your favorite star) put up Stud Numbers last night. It might be a local expression rather than regional.

Not a great term in today's PC world now that I think of it.

    Cheers.

I may have heard Denis Eckersley use the phrase.

I use Beer Tools quite a bit, usually to add notes if I add a new beer on BA. Sometimes to change the status of something that's listed as retired but really isn't, or to change the style in cases where the label or brewery says on its website that it's a certain style of beer. Very useful tool, I think. The more information that's available, the better for all of us.

You mean something like a bottle opener? Yeah, I use that all the time, keep one on my keychain.

    Yes these are really handy.
    Use them a lot.
Mostly I came here for the beer tool jokes and wasn't disappointed. Cheers!

Forgive me if I'm misunderstanding this, but are you saying that when an edit is suggested via beer tools, the user who submitted the edit is anonymous? That may actually be beneficial for a few reasons, but I just always assumed that the individual approving the edit would see who submitted it. Just curious.

No. We know who submitted the suggestion. We just don’t store it when a mod takes action. This would require a significant update to the system.

Gotcha - that's what I thought was the case. Makes sense. Thanks for clarifying!

Use it all the time. My most frequent use is to add notes after I add a new beer. It would be nice to be able to add notes when adding the beer.

Used Tools twice today. For the same beer I had just entered. Screwed up twice. Same. Beer.

    I am an idiot.

There was one time I suggested an edit - just for the beer description which was lacking, and the mod got it wrong. I submitted another edit, kindly pointing out the mistake. The mod got it wrong again. I had to eventually break it down and include a phonetic description of the description of the correction, and I worried the mod would think I was being patronising, but it was just hilarious to have to keep going back-and-forth re-submitting this can description. Poor guy probably just had one-too-many that day. Bless his heart.

    Probably @Shanex, 6 Leffes deep.

If you saw the number of times notes needed to be cleaned up before approving them, you would probably be ok with the way the system currently works  Not everyone is diligent in capitalization, punctuation, etc.

As a mod, what is your take on users submitting edits for small typos and minor errors in beer descriptions? Just came across one today, and almost sent in an edit, but thought, "Man, they're going to start thinking I'm the grammar police over here.
