This is excellent, refreshing, and hoppy pale that I can always find fresh at the local Publix. If I cannot find Sierra Nevada pale ale or it is not fresh to is a superb alternative.

Smell is mint, dark chocolate, and vanilla. 3.5

Taste follows aggressive mint, dark chocolate, and a whiff of vanilla. 3.5

Mouthfeel is maybe medium, slightly under carbonated, not dry, and at 10.8% a no alcohol detected, but reminds me of cremediment. 3.75

Overall this was a disappointment for me, not terrible but really underwhelming and odd. 3.5

postimages is down at this time so I don't have a picture. I did not realize this Beer was a New Beer until I reviewed it a few minutes ago, a barrel-aged version was released back in January, this non-barrel-aged version is lower in ABV. A big flavored English Brown Ale from Austin Street Brewery of scenic Portland Maine. Cheers.

An easy pour from a 16-oz. can produced a fat finger of creamy khaki foam that slowly turns rocky, long retention and swatches of lacing. Deep dark brown, opaque with reddish-brown highlights.

Malty smell of caramel and roasted flavor with a hint of wood smoke. Faint baked apple and pear with herbal hops.

Full taste, semi-sweet with mild bitterness. Roasted character is in the lead by an inch with a nice balance of sweet malt and smoke. The smoke flavor is a bit acrid, burnt white pepper, herbs and grass. Hop flavor is hidden as well as the alcohol. Towards the semi-dry finish, bakers chocolate and black coffee appear with some baked dark rye bread.
Mild smoke and spice linger during the aftertaste.

Medium bodied with lasting carbonation, smooth from a big and balanced malt bill. Session-able and true to style. Not as heavy on coffee as many examples. A favorite style of mine done right.

Sierra Nevada Dankful IPA, 7.6% ABV; 3.99 overall

Pours an effervescent amber with 3 fingers of beige head. Good head retention & above average lacing

    S: Pine & cakeyness

T: Follows the nose, mostly pine though, dryness and a little grapefruit up front. Pineyness, a little cakey sweetness, pineapple & just a little grapefruit as this warms. Finishes dry, piney & cakey

MF: Medium body, subdued carbonation, good balance

    Solid Westcoast IPA, very drinkable

Giving this one a go from the NBS BIF 12 boxes received from @Ozzylizard . Sadly, post image is not behaving...

    Hoppin’ Frog The Frog Abides.

This is my first ever ‘white’ stout. Ive seen a few locally before but never took the plunge. This one has coffee and ‘flavours’ and the can indicates the goal is to taste like a White Russian. We shall see!

Pours a thick and slightly opaque orange/gold. Little to no head and no lacing.

The aroma is of sweet milk, sweet coffee. There is even a candied berry note in the background that comes off at times like strawberry milk. It is pleasant and enticing.

Sweet and boozy off the top on the tongue. Milky and syrupy. Light coffee notes in the background. A sweet, sugary interplay with a hard to place bitter note to end the sip.

This beer is really on the syrupy side. Or so much as to make it unpleasant, but far more than I’d like.

Overall I’m very glad to have tried it. This isn’t my thing, and I doubt I’d drink it again though. I think the White Russian goal is certainly achieved.

Light amber body, clear; soapy, frothy white head of medium height initially, then fades to a thin layer. Grassy, herbal aroma with a bare touch of grain underneath. Grainy taste, wheat and cracker; hard hop bitterness with a touch of black pepper; some grassy herbal character. Medium body; mildly sharp and gently warm on the palate; a touch of sweetness but primarily dry overall.

This pilsner is okay although a bit rough around the edges.

A decent whistle wetter before heading a few houses down to help my neighbor paste up targets for a Civilian Marksmanship Program service rifle shoot. We pasted up 10 targets on cardboard backers (the targets measure 42" x 42").

In fact, I believe I'll have another new pilsner when I get back home. It just seems like a good evening for a few mellow brews...

1/6/20 650 ml bottle bought in the spring that I was thinking of aging but then saw in the cellaring thread that it wasn't advisable so thought let's get it on.

Poured into a DFH tulip a nice light tan head was over an orangish amber cloudy body. Prodigious lacing as the head died down. Smell is mostly of brown sugar and dark fruit. In the taste, although this is a hopped up American barleywine, the hops aren't overly bitter and instead add to the sweetness of the taste, particularly when it warms to room temperature. I don't think this will age nearly as nicely as Bigfoot or Bell's Third Coast so I'm not regretting my decision. Mouthfeel is fine for the style.

Although this was a positive experience, unless I can find future bottles marked down from what I paid for this, this will be a one off.

Good evening everyone - my first new beer this weekend comes courtesy of @Dimidiata. Chaos Grid LOL Edition.

Pours a shiny dark, dark black color. Completely opaque. Thin brown velvety head dissipates pretty steadily leaving just a thin ring of foam along the outside of the beer. Aroma is unbelievably peanut buttery. Underneath the peanut butter there are light bourbon notes, chocolate, almonds and vanilla. It does smell like a candy bar as advertised.

Taste follows the nose with notes of peanut butter, chocolate, almonds, light roasted malts on the back end and a touch of bourbon. The peanut butter and chocolate really dominate the flavor profile of this one. The roasted malts are present, but really subtle. The barrel character is pretty much completely dominated, There is a bit of bourbon in the profile, but its more boozy bourbon, rather than barrel. Feel is on the thin side, with fizzy carbonation. The upshot of the mouthfeel is that its incredibly easy drinking. The downside is, at 14%, easy drinking is quite dangerous.

Overall this is a really delicious dessert stout. A real pleasure to drink.

Last one for the night - this one also comes courtesy of @Dimidiata. Modern Times Beastmaster (Tahitian Vanilla)

Pours a deep dark brown color - almost black. Thin, velvety tan head dissipates until just a ring of foam remains along the outside of the beer. Aroma is a bit unexpected - the vanilla is there on the nose, but its a bit weird - its more of a fruity vanilla? Its really interesting ... I can only assume this is a character of the Tahitian vanilla beans which I am admittedly unfamiliar with straight up. Some roasted malt notes come through on the nose.

Taste follows the nose with notes of roasted malts, some earthy notes and some fruity vanilla notes. There is just something different about the vanilla beans in this - I can't quite place it - but its just unlike any other vanilla stout I've ever had. Moderately sweet, with a certain woodiness to it from the vanilla beans. Its a bit hot. Feel is thin, bright carbonation, smooth with a somewhat drier finish.

Overall its a really interesting beer. I feel like I need to go eat some Tahitian vanilla beans to get a better handle on the flavors this beer is bringing.

Bottled on 1 April 2015, Best Before 1 April 2020...stored and aged in cellar conditions

6.9%abv (+/-) depending with whom you speak

Poured into an Orval Chalis (gifted to me by the staff of a nice establishment in Brussels) a murkey tan with interesting white to off-white cap of tightly bound bubbles which dissipated relatively quickly (as compared to a younger vintage)

On the nose, classic Orval highlights - pungent malts, yeasts and Orval Barnyard Funk (brettanomyces) which has taken center stage - front and center - reminiscent of a fine French Vin Rouge and Fromage - les pieds des anges, or the feet of angels, which can be off putting to some, but once one acquires the taste, one craves the taste - and this is only the nose...

The taste follows the nose up front, through the middle and back and a bit thin (an artifact of aging perhaps?), but a taste most delightful and satisfying...sediment/yeast cake remains...

Even though this is not my first Orval, the nature of the brewing method and aging always yields up front, in your face, tastes and subtle nuances which linger and beg to be savored and contemplated.

    Another rewarding experience.

    Thanks for reading....

    Cheers.

[IMG] Poured into a 13 oz tulip glass and this can is not marked but I am pretty sure I saw 10/23/2020 on one of the other cans. Pours a very hazy and attractive orange with a 2 plus finger sticky white head that leaves huge streaks of lace with excellent retention. 4.5

Smell is ripe melon, peach, mango, mandarin, papaya, apricot, and grapefruit rind. 4.25

Taste follows cantaloupe, mango, mandarin, papaya, peach, apricot, and a little grapefruit in the finish, really well balanced. 4.25

Mouthfeel is big, rather gentle almost creamy carbonation, a tad stick but not dry, and at 8.5% it goes down really easy, but is big on flavor. 4.5

Overall this is a really well made NEDIPA that without a doubt would be willing to purchase the entire 4 pack next time around. 4.25
