Prairie Millennial Mansion Imperial Sour, 7.3% ABV; 3.71 Overall

Pours purple with pinkish colored head, 1", plenty of effervescence. Zero head retention & lacing

    S: Blueberries, limes

T: Follows the nose, pretty dry, also some marshmallow & dark cherry. More blueberry, cherry & lime as this warms, plus dryness & a little salt. Finishes dry with lime & blueberries

MF: Medium body, fairly firm carbonation

Drinks easy enough, nothing mind blowing here though, just another decent over-priced sour from Prairie

I logged by 500th beer on Beer Advocate this week. I log (rate) almost every new beer here and I started to review more frequently. Had I planned it a little better I would have saved this one for number 500. But on the other hand, I've never picked a 'special' beer for any of my previous 'milestone' beers. Maybe I'll have a big one ready for number 1,000 in a few years.

L - Very dark brown, almost black with a thin mocha head.
S - Coffee, vanilla, chocolate, roasted malt and bourbon. This beer smells very good.
T - Coffee, vanilla, chocolate, oak, roasted malt, and bourbon with coffee being the dominant flavor and providing a little bitterness at the end.
F - Thick and creamy. Full bodied with low carbonation.
O - Wonderful beer. Pretty well balanced. The coffee is in the forefront and provides a little bitterness to balance the sweetness of the vanilla.

Hello Late Night NBW (Sunday edition).
Holy Shizzle...I am enjoying a beauty, courtesy of @JayORear
DDH Oblivex (Galaxy) by Tired Hands

Can stamped 11/18/20 Thanks to JayORear for this beauty.
Massive foamy, like that gap filler spray foam you buy at the hardware store, head that pushes past 3 fingers in height. And the retreat is slow and stubborn. Phenomenal retention. Lacing is plentiful, almost tie dyed.
Nose starts with a bitey pepper tinged orange melange. It's almost like both notes are fighting for the lead. A bit of mango plays with a slight grapefruit note. Onion pokes in near the end.
Flavor is total Galaxy. Orange zest, grapefruit, mango, and for me a hint onion going toward weed note. Solid.
Mouthfeel is medium and almost fluffy with a perfect level of carbonation.
Overall, only my second Oblivex. I am all in.

Wow. I remember having Sure Bet years ago, and instantly tried trading for it again. It was glorious. The next few times it was still quite good. I haven't had it in a few years, but I am now curious if it drops off that quickly or they just don't make it the same way.

Well I'm sneaking in with my mystery beer from @JayORear
16 oz can pours a deep dark brown, with a sandy head that rises just shy of 2 fingers. As it retreats I pick up notes of smoke, roasted malt, and dark brown bread notes.
First sip, now that the head has retreated to a few disparate islands of tiny bubbles and a light but solid ring leaving a smattering of lacing. I'm getting lighter smoke, gentle roasted caramel notes that also hint at chocolate with the sweetness tapering off to a nuanced dry mild bitter note. Hints of highly roasted coffee, almost green poke in as well.
Slightly dry and earthy on the finish. The mouthfeel is medium but also feels a bit light and a tad pillowy. Carbonation is there but not pronounced.
I'm not sure, is this some kind of Schwartzbier or a lightly smoked dark lager?

    Ok, the reveal.

Wanderlust a chocolate porter from Barley Creek Brewing Company

So as far as a chocolate porter, the chocolaty notes took a backseat to the char. The mouthfeel was on the lighter side, but now that I read the can as 4.9% ABV, I'm wondering if they were intentionally pulling their punches on the malt base. Not bad, but not what I would consider full enough or flavorful enough for a porter.

But still glad to try it.

Mrs. snaotheus decided I wasn't done yet, and we're sharing Whiskey Barrel Aged Mr. Sandman from River North. I have trouble imagining a scenario where another new beer is consumed in the next hour and a halfish, so this is 99% certain to be my last new beer of the "weekend", a fuzzy delineation because tomorrow is the first of ten work days off.

375ml capped bottle served in a WABL sample glass. Vintage 2020, Release no. 4. Probably got it from Tavour.

Pours basically black with little to no head. Very little carbonation. Smell is whisky, anise, chocolate, roast grain, coffee.

Taste is roast grain, coffee, anise, chocolate, vanilla and oak. Probably dwells in the dark chocolate realm with some coffee and anise notes.

Mouthfeel is thick, rich, slightly chalky. Overall, quite good.

Thanks! Would have looked even better with some cherries, but they're kinda hard to come by this time of year :stuck_out_tongue:.
