Any Philly area breweries releasing epic West Coast IPAs these days? I’m pretty strung out with hazy, lactose, New England cotton candy DIPAs these days. Really craving some Russian River style goodness.

Picked one up from Odd Logic today called Simcoe's House Party....will report back once I try it. I'm tired of lactose being in everything too.

I wouldnt call it "epic", but Free Will's year around Kragle IPA is solid- nice flavor, bitter and dry.

Drank 3 pints of it last weekend when my wife and I hung outside at a winery that also had a few beers on tap. Even with good NEIPAs I find they get a bit cloying after a couple in a row.

Neshaminy county line is west coast like. Tonewood (headspace) releases a west coast one from time to time as does bonesaw (definition).

I’m sure you’ve had it but maybe it’s worth a revisit... ever since deschutes showed up on NJ. The only IPA I’ve been buying is fresh squeezed. I’m amazed at how well that beer holds up too, mine current fridge ones are 9/21 dated. Even at 3 months they’re still my preference to most hoppy beers out there.

Thought about this some more. Love City's Unity IPA leans WC style, but I thought it was just okay. Workhorse's West Coast IPA is pretty solid

Troegs Perpetual is probably my favorite PA brewed "shelf" IPA. While is does have some kilned malt, it leans WC style (or at least comparitively).

Workhorse Brewing has a west coast ipa that you can probably find locally or have delivered directly to your front door

Do american IPAs count? Because I can recommend several breweries doing american style IPAs

***edit to note that while I enjoy this workhorse ipa, I wouldn’t consider it “epic” like a RRBC PtE

Victory Hop Wallop should be releasing early in the new year

A really spot on version of a west coast style IPA offering was recently released by Root Down Brewing in Phoenixville called Lawng Jawnz. Hop aroma and taste profile is wonderfully fragrant and juicy. In addition, Mike Hamara also released a helles style lager called Zeal and an authentic tasting ESB called Colonial after the Colonial Movie Theater.

Root Down Bine. Great WC IPA and took Gold at GABF a couple years ago.

I hear what you are saying here. I recently homebrewed my version of PtE and boy does that beer bring a smile to my face.

Another beer you might consider, even that it is not specifically West Coast, is the 'old school' IPA from Victory: Hop Devil.

    Cheers!

+1 for Bine, best IPA going. Animated Brewing in Coatesville has a couple of good WCIPAs (Want and Beer #2.5 are recent ones), 2SP Eastwood though I have not seen it in a while. East Branch Alluvium. Sterling Pig Snuffler. Workhorse always brews solid representations of whatever style they are brewing. Sly Fox 113 and Hop Devil are "classics".

I got to try and East Branch beer and it was really really great, their kolsch. I’d love to try more of their stuff, they’re pretty far for me to ever realistically go to. If I ever have a chance I’d loved to try alluvium.

I have a friend who lives in Downingtown, PA - which is where East Branch is located. I borrowed an impact drill from him and need to return it in the near future. That being said, I will be driving to Downingtown in the near future. Whenever I make plans, I can try and stop by the brewery for you to grab some alluvium and/or other 4 packs. Let me know if you are serious about obtaining some and I'll send you a PM and we can set up a trade.

Troegs announced the Nugget Nectar release a couple days ago, but I haven't been out to see if it shelves yet.

Neshaminy Creek's Shape of Hops to Come is a resinous west coast DIPA. Someone else mentioned County Line IPA. Neshaminy Creek tends to favor west coast over New England style IPAs, and their core beers are generally traditional styles and well done.

    Seconded

Here's a link to East Branch Brewing Co. website https://eastbranchbrewing.com/ There closed Mon and Tues, but I assume by 1/6/21 they will resume their normal hours at reduced indoor capacity and full capacity for the rooftop outdoor dining. Their Keller Pils is great, the low abv Pub Stout is roasty and toasty and their Hydra DIPA is truly a delicious west coast style ale. Plenty of 4-pks to go.

I live 8 minutes from East branch Brewing and am a huge fan. I buy a fourpack of every new beer. Their lagers are fucking outstanding. Let me know if you ever want anything. I’m all about the small guy.
