A much needed late night sipper, courtesy of @Ozzylizard from the NBW BIF 12.

Pours a near black with a very dark brown tight head that dissipates to nothing after several minutes.

Cold, this was woody smelling, with leather a hint of licorice. As it warmed, milk chocolate and vanilla joined the party. The woody aroma lingered

Again, a dry, woody note pops out on the tongue. Licorice follows with a bitter cold coffee note following. A little vanilla to finish.

    Medium to light body.

This is very interesting. Not like any other RIS I’ve had. I like it.

Alright late night NBS, next up is Stonecloud Brewing Co. - Ziggy Hopdust.

Pours a completely opaque and turbid light orange color. Thick 3-4 finger sudsy white head form, lingers, and then slowly starts to dissolve and collapse until just a thin layer of foam remains on top of the beer. Splotchy white lacing is left on the glass as the beer is consumed. Aroma is a pungent and delicious array and bright fresh fruit notes. Notes of orange, tangerine, mango, melon, with a light orange creamsicle note coming through.

Taste follows the nose with notes of orange, mango, and a light, but nice green hop bite. Underlying the fruit flavors is a biscuit malt backbone. The profile is a really nice, "classic" NEDIPA. Well executed, and flavorful. Feel is medium to full bodied, smooth, with a moderate, but lively carbonation.

Overall its a very nice NEDIPA.

What were the hops in that Fremont brew? I couldn't find that on their site. I looked at the reviews afterwards and it seemed like most people gave that series very good ratings.

And now up... Chai Milk Stout (Nitro) by Left Hand Brewing Co.

    Thanks @hophound
Deep brown with a slight ruby border. A milky milk stout head. Lush. Excellent retention with a solid wall of lacing.
Nose begins with toasted cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, and a splash of ginger. An ever so lightly burned milk note peaks in as well, in a great way.
Flavor is a step back. Not as bold as the nose which is definitely a good thing. I mean the nose is fantastic, but if the flavor followed with the same intensity this would be overwhelming. The cinnamon and cardamom are carried gingerly by the creamy milk stout base. Ginger peaks in almost more as a mouthfeel or a "presence." They really hit what they were going for, a Chai milk stout.
Mouthfeel is only a tad light for style but oh so smooth and creamy. Finish starts almost sweet but dries out in a woody way.

I'm not sure. I'll try to find out. I may need to consult the sage wisdom on the northwest forum.

Eh, going to stick with the IPA theme this evening. This next one is Pipeworks Brewing Company - No Save Point - a collaboration with RTJ.

Pours a light pale straw yellow color. Completely opaque and matte in color. Full 3 finger head forms, them dissipates leaving just a thin layer of foam on top of the beer. Aroma has notes of peach, mango, papaya, and coconut with a green grassy hops note on the back end.

Taste follows the nose with some light notes of coconut, mango, peach, apricot, giving way to a green grassy hop note on the back end. The flavors are somewhat "watery" for lack of a better term? Feel is light, crisp, bright carbonation. Mild bitterness on the finish.

Overall its a solid IPA. Not sure I love the galaxy/sabro mix, but the IPA itself is decent.

Liked that one a lot too long ago, but these beers seem to fade fast based on the target they are shooting for now

Spent the afternoon and early evening unwrapping presents and noshing on all manner of goodies in my folks' garage. While there, I drink wine, Scotch whiskey (Laphroig) and (because it was kind of drafty in the garage) coffee fortified with booze. My brother and I didn't get to the beer that I had brought down from Spokane. We did, however, knock out a couple tallboys of Whistle Punk's Men at Work IPA out in the motel parking lot tonight. Now I'm drinking for the first time Whistle Punk's Wee Heavy:
A motel room, using a paper cup, doesn't exactly scream proper beer reviewing situation. I'll just say this Wee Heavy is hitting all the flavor points a Wee Heavy should. Malty (as one would expect), with a modest alcohol flavor in the background, and more complex as it warms, this is a good one, folks.

Okay, that was v.24, which, per their web site, is hopped with Sorachi Ace, Idaho 7 Cryo, Centennial, and Comet hops.

Given that I'm very pedantic, the beers name is Dark Persuasion. German Chocolate Cake Ale is the descriptor. When this beer was in 22s, the label was basically reversed, with Dark Persuasion being in the larger type. Shrug. I still love it!. Might just go open one after I finish this brew!

So instead of a shower beer, I guess you'd categorize this as a "playground beer?":stuck_out_tongue:
