There's a new Pilsner in town, literally. In my small town of Chester, our only brewery Little House Brewing has had Chester Pilsner this week. My wife bought a Crowler today kind of clandestinely because the keg was almost kicked and was not supposed to be for glass pours only. She has pull with these people. The keg kicked shortly after.

Poured from today's Crowler to a Pils glass.
Clear gold with traditional tiny bubble rise constantly. A healthy pure white head fades to nothing quite quickly.
A few sniffs give sweet malt and a hint of black pepper.
Taste is pleasant with a bready malt flavor and a hint of a hop finish.
Mouthfeel is light, and drinkable (where did this beer go?).
Overall- Not a bad Pilsner. Maybe the hot weather had something to do with the rapid demise of the head. I hope they bring this back and I can try it in better conditions.
    I give it a 3.7

I’ve always wanted to check that place out @cjgiant. Someday when I’m in the area I hope to. I’ve seen pictures and it looks like a really neat location, beers seem good too based on your reviews.

    Moving on to bigger things...
    This courtesy of @BrewsOverHoes
Orpheus Brewing Quad Transmigration of Souls. QDHQIPA...yup you read that correctly.
Pours a slightly hazy burnished gold with a short lived foamy white head that leaves plenty of sticky lacing behind.
Aroma is a ton of juicy ripe tropicals. Pineapple, mango, passionfruit, tangerine, light pine and grapefruit pith, fruity esters, bubblegum.
Taste follows with tropicals, citrus etc. Lightly caramelized malt sweetness tries to balance the bitterness of pine and grapefruit and does a fairly good job.
Medium/heavy body, mild carbonation, fairly oily (4xhop!) But does tend to dry out a bit. Alcohol burn as well as hop burn are present but not as aggressive as you might think.
I didnt look at the can again before I started drinking this but figured it was around 10%....12%!!! Holy crap Im drinking this waaaay too fast.
    Hop Bomb!
    Thank You Ryan!!![IMG]

Love reading you folks so far.
Thanks @JackHorzempa for the tutorial on Cashmere.
Thanks @MNAle on the updates regarding Sulry's surly ventures.

I started the day with Deschutes Fresh Haze

    Canned 4/15/21
Slightly hazy orange tinted golden swirl pushes ample foam. Very good retention with light layered lacing.
Nose pumps lemon, orange, grass, and a mild crackery grain notes.
Flavor follows nicely. But there's an earthy (almost resiny) bitterness that closes out after the citrus burst.
Mouthfeel is light to medium, carbonation that is alive enough, and kinda slick on the backside.
    Overall, solid.

Given what I think I know about you, I think you’d enjoy the beers well enough; I think they all have a fairly solid footing in classic styling. They claim to be putting their own spin on things, and now doubt they are in a various ways, but I’m happy that it doesn’t mean obliterating the idea behind a style.

So, I got a can pour for my last, because it mentioned rye in the write up. This is Leveler, a hoppy amber by Elder Pine:

Nearing the brown side of amber, there’s a little less auburn tinge to it when not backlit. Head is nicely retentive, like most of the beers we’ve had here.

Nose isn’t being very open or forthcoming. There’s a hint of fruitiness and a general feel of autumn leaves on damp earth. Attempting to find more, I get sort of a blueberry tea impression.

Brown bread supports citrus tea flavors. The beer isn’t very bitter, but definitely ends on that side of balanced. The opening isn’t too malty, the finish not too bitter, but there is that slight shift from one to the other.

This isn’t an overly complex beer, but it isn’t boring either. It’s a solid performer that I am quite enjoying right now.

    Edit: bathroom break…

Good Sunday afternoon, New Beer Swiggers and commentators. It is quite hot and humid today but the breeze makes it bearable outside. We could use a good, soaking, rain.

I don't drink Pilsners regularly but I was mildly surprised that I hadn't tried Carton Brewing's Whip, a Bohemian-style Pilsner with a malt bill of Pilsner, Sauermaltz, and Carapils and hopped with Mount Hood, Liberty, and Crystal. This is the type of beer that Carton excels at brewing. Poured from 12 oz. can into a pint glass. It pours a hazy, light straw color with a half finger of creamy, bright white head and lacing. A big, bold nose with lots of biscuit, spice, and a whiff of lemon peel. I'm not tasting nearly as much toasted, bready malt as the smell would indicate but it's also a bit hoppier with more lemon than expected. I suspect the resinous notes emanate from the Mount Hood hops while the Crystal hops contribute to the hints of herb and pepper. The mouth feel is great! Lite, crisp, and highly drinkable at 5% ABV. I'm drinking it outdoors on a hot, humid New Jersey afternoon and it really hits the spot. Overall, Whip is very dry and flavorful.

It really hit the spot today! This is the 100th Carton beer I've reviewed on BA - the third most of any brewery (behind Carton and Twin Elephant). This was so lite that I'm ready for another new beer review. Cheers, NBW!

Well this was interesting, and I had to add it to the data base. I hope I did it right, Herb and Spice beer seems so amorphous, yet appropriate for this one.

Pass the Sauce by Riverwalk Brewing Co. in my friend's new home of Newburyport, MA

16 oz can. Thanks Tom. stamped 11/20/20
Labels states: "Inspired by the bounty of the season, this beer combines the tantalizing mix of toasty, nutty malts, tart cranberry and spice.A mix of European malts for the base of our festive offering, with layers of warm spice and fruit to create a harmonious blend of flavors. There is much to be thankful for, and we would like this opportunity to thank you, and remind you to pass the sauce."

Pours a ruddy brown, decent head at first but quickly dissipated to a thin off-white ring. No lacing
Nose is tart cranberry, ginger, deep and dark brown bread.
Flavor definitely jumps off with the ginger tinged cranberry. Cranberry is tart, ginger is almost effervescent in its insistence, but does not take over in a callous manner. Just omnipresent. Some very tart cherry notes come is too and the finish has a hint of sour green apple.
Mouthfeel is on the lighter side of medium. Somewhat slick, light carbonation.
Overall, a very interesting beer. I think they hit what they described quite well.

Clown Shoes 2020 Snow On The Maple Tree BBA Imperial Stout, 10% ABV. Pours dark black with a middle finger of brown head that left some lacing. Nose is maple and roast malt. Taste follows, slightly sweet, slightly bitter, maple in the aftertaste too. Or maybe I got it on my beard. Excellent mouthfeel, overall outstanding. Let this one warm a bit.

Yes, but it's a dry heat. And it doesn't smell of the ocean and conifers- eastern conifers- and jeez, the geology is all different! We've had a crazy cool Spring and early Summer, but it looks as if tomorrow is bringing a week of humid New Mexico. Yikes. Welcome home to tomato sandwiches and cantaloupe........

Since @Nichols33 sent me Haze and Very Hazy I had to do a side by side!
Haze vs Very Hazy side by side
    Haze
12 oz can, dated 5/7/21, poured into a teku

A- A bright hazy golden orange with a three finger white head 4.5

S- Citrus, mango, tropical fruits, some pineapple, floral, earthy. 4.25

T- Citrus, tropical fruits, papaya, some melons, mango, earthy finish. 4.5

M- Smooth, slightly creamy, medium body. 4.5

O- A great and easy to drink NEIPA. Not as bright and flavorful as Very Hazy, but still really good. 4.5

    Very Hazy
16 oz can, dated 6/2/21, poured into a teku

A- A hazy golden copper with a three finger white head 4.25

S- Mango, citrus, pineapple, earthy, a little dank, grapefruit, melons. 4.75

T- Mango, citrus, melons, some pineapple, earthy, touch of lime zest, slightly dank. 4.75

M- Smooth, slightly creamy, medium body. 4.5

O- A great and easy to drink NEIPA. A brighter version of Haze. 4.5

Look wise I would have guessed that Haze was the fresher beer, but everything else leans towards Very Hazy being better. I honestly don’t think the difference is a freshness issue since Haze isn’t showing issues with fading. Both beers are amazing examples of NEIPAs

My son made a trip up north and brought me home some Bissell Brothers, this one was one I've never had.

Exponent IPA single hopped w/Sabro 6.5 abv

poured from a can dated 5/25/21
Cloudy light yellow appearance fluffy head, spotty lacing and full cap
Fairly light aroma of peach, green grapes and hard fruity candy
Taste is dank peach, some green grapes and kind of a tart hard candy
Mouthfeel is creamy and chewy, low carbonation and a kind of light bitter tart finish that hits the back of the jaw.
Overall, all though Sabro is not my favorite hop, this one is not a bad IPA, it has a nice fruit forward taste and a little bit of a tart bite type of finish. I liked it.

I have a love/hate relationship with Kettle Sours. It's not a style I drink frequently but once in while I'm in the mood. Magnify brews this style a lot and they've become quite adept at it despite periodic misfires. I hadn't had a Magnify sour in almost a year and I was intrigued by this one, Peach Melba Pie Attack, because Magnify has a history of doing good things with peaches. For example, 30 Hours is a very good peach IPA. I was prepared not to like this sour but it's actually very well done. The balance of tart, sour peach, strawberry, and lactose/vanilla cream works for me. The mouth feel is nicely thick and creamy. I wouldn't want to drink this all the time but it's flavorful and refreshing. I would make an excellent slushee!

    Hello New Beer Weekend!!!

Checking in from Minnesota's Northwest Angle. It is so damn beautiful here, but there's very severe problems here. This isolated part of the state, and country relies on tourism. The main way to get here is by land, through Canada, and back to the US. You can also cross Lake of the Woods to get here, which Is how we got here this morning.
Right now, we're the only guests at the resort of 12 cabins, and there won't Be more guests until July 7th.
If the winter wouldn't have been so good, due to the road across the ice, they would have gone out of business.
So, if you like amazing fishing, please consider Coming here. It's paradise, and you can visit the most northern most spot in the lower 48.

Now on to beer, and this is thanks to @woemad

    Quad and sour????

Why, yes, it does work, and is a good post fishing beer.

Clear amber colored pour. There's lots of carbonation bubbles rising in the glass, but there's very minimal head. What's there is white and there's some lacing.
The nose is very complex and many layered. I get some orange. I get a lot of bourbon barrel on the nose. I get caramel, and toffee.
Taste. A bit of sour orange up front. That gives way to the barrel flavors, that are very strong. I also get some caramel and a hint of toffee.
The body is thick, and full. There's a decent alcohol burn.
Solid beer and a pleasure to try.

    Maybe one more later. Cheers!

Something about the new of this beer attracted me to it when i saw it on the shelf at Julio’s Liquors

16 oz can poured into a pint glass

Three finger rocky taupe foam cap , good retention settles to a thick layer with great lacings over a translucent tea colored liquid

    Aroma is grains, herbal, earthy,

Taste is toffee, malts, biscuity, bread

Low sudsing, gentle hop taste nicely lingers

A proper pint, quite enjoyable, great name
