Does anyone know if Bitburger will be releasing their Octoberfest beer this season. I had some last fall and it was remarkable and I'm hoping they release it again this season (please don't get cute and start messing with the recipe, etc - keep everything the same!).

I hope so! Still listed on their website as a seasonal (available August), so that gives me hope.

    Does Coolship brew an Oktoberfest?

If it's anything like the Festbier Kostritzer (part of Bitburger these days) put out a few years ago, I'd chance a six-pack.

I've never seen the Kostritzer Festbier, was this a one-time release?

I assume you are talking about OEC. To answer your question, I believe they did do a Marzen last season, but for what they charge for their beers, I find the German classics in the category to be a far better bargain.

If you didn't have a chance to try the Bitburger Octoberfest, assuming its released again this year, I would say its worth a six pack purchase. I enjoyed it a lot, had some slight caramel toffee sweetness but not too sweet and enough hop character to keep you coming back for more sips.

Yeah, the last review was written in 2012 so it must not reach us here in the States at least not anymore.

Hmm. Not at all a favorite character in an Oktoberfest for me.

And Kostritzer Okto was a Festbier, so the pale version of Oktoberfest beer.

Yep, sorry. For some unknown reason, 2 of their Lagers showed up in Casper and they were pretty amazing.

So, I saw Bitburger Festbier at a local store very close to me. I took a 6-pack home with me only to discover the Best By date was 3/27/2021
I figure the distributor is getting rid of last seasons stock before the new one arrives.
It was not bad, so that makes me think that the new batch should be very good.
I'll talk to the clerk about it when I go in next time.

I just don't trust distros or stores anymore. My eyes go right to the dates on imports.

Can't wait to see some of the Oktos come in around here.

Yep, some of the distributors are sneaky like that, especially when you see last year's labels on shelves during that first wave of fall product being put out. I automatically check dates just to be sure I'm getting this year's batch of product.

Keep an eye on HB Maibock in the spring, too. Called out old stock on that one before.

Yet another beer I never see in my area.
Does that one come in Brown bottles or still green?

Could be because they use some caramel malt in there, which I recall from last year….see the description from their site below:

“A very special malt composition, including Pilsner Malt, Münchner Malt and light Caramel Malt, accounts for its fine color and smooth body.”
